After a tense, scoreless 114 minutes in Sunday's World Cup final, German sub Mario Gotze provided the only separation necessary when he guided a gorgeous cross from Andre Schurrle into the side netting, giving Germany a decisive 1-0 lead.

Schurrle, also a sub, played a perfect cross in between two Argentinian defenders and Gotze played the ball off his chest and then swung it past a diving Sergio Romero. The sublime finish was worthy of deciding a World Cup.

Lionel Messi had a late free kick attempt, but couldn't find the frame. Gotze's goal gave Germany its fourth World Cup title and first since 1990 (when it beat Argentina as well).
