Victoria Azarenka withdraws from French Open with foot injury
The former world No. 1 has been hobbled since January.
Victoria Azarenka will not play in the French Open due to a foot injury. She is currently the fifth-ranked player in the world.
Hi Guys - Unfortunately I will not be able to compete in Roland Garros this year. Working hard on my recovery & getting back on the court.— victoria azarenka (@vika7) May 19, 2014
Azarenka, the two-time winner of both the Australian and U.S. Open, has never reached the final at Roland Garros. Her best finish came last year when she reached the semifinals.
But she has been plagued by a foot injury throughout 2014 and hasn't played competitively in months. In fact, Azarenka has only competed once since the Australian Open in January, a first round loss at Indian Wells to Lauren Davis.
The French Open begins Sunday.
