There are six players left in each the men's and women's singles tournament in London this year

The Wimbledon semifinals are set and the pair of matchups in both the men's and women's tournament are sure to deliver. Things were settled on Wednesday with the final matches of the quarterfinals. One last upset bid snuck through as Belinda Bencic took down No. 7 Mirra Andreeva for her second career Grand Slam semifinal appearance. She'll take on five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek on Thursday.

In the other women's semifinal set for Thursday, No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka will take on No. 13 seed Amanda Anisimova. Sabalenka got all she could handle from Laura Siegemund, as the German veteran took her to three sets, but Sabalenka prevailed 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in a grueling match that lasted nearly three hours. Anisimova, meanwhile, cruised by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(9) to reach the second major semifinal of her career. 

On the men's side, No. 5 seed Taylor Fritz defeated Karen Khachanov in four sets (6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4)) to reach the second grand slam semifinal of his career. There he will meet No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz, who made quick work of the hometown favorite Cameron Norrie in the last match of the evening, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3, for his 19th straight win at Wimbledon as he looks for a third straight title at the All England Club. 

Meanwhile, an epic battle is set in the other semifinal as No. 1 Jannik Sinner took down No. 10 Ben Shelton in straight sets to put any worry of injury behind him on Wednesday, and No. 6 Novak Djokovic grinded past No. 22 Flavio Cobolli in four sets. Djokovic did land awkwardly near the end of the match and his status for Friday is worth monitoring.

Djokovic sets up semifinal showdown with Sinner

Novak Djokovic outlasted Flavio Cobolli 6-7, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinals and will now face World No. 1 Jannik Sinner for a spot in the Wimbledon final. Djokovic, who's vying for his 25th Grand Slam, went down awkwardly in the final game of the match when he slipped on the grass. He was able to win the next two points to move on. Djokovic trailed 5-4 in the third set before taking the third with three consecutive games.

Sinner eliminates Shelton in straight sets

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner finished off Ben Shelton 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals, pushing his career record to 6-1 against the talent American. Sinner will play in Friday's semifinals on Centre Court against the Cobolli-Djokovic winner and is two wins away from his first career Wimbledon title. Sinner is now in his fourth consecutive Grand Slam semifinal.

"Very, very happy about today's performance," Sinner said. "He serves very well. Overall, we play each other more and more. And I'm looking forward to this (in the future)."
