WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley weigh in for Royal Rumble WWE title clash

Lesnar weighed in as the bigger man and landed the biggest verbal shot of the night

With the Royal Rumble less than a week away, Raw landed in Toledo, Ohio, for the go-home edition of the show. Despite it being the final build to one of the biggest events of the year, very little happened to build any Royal Rumble matches.

The top champions on Raw were all in action in one form or another, including Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley briefly coming face-to-face before their clash for the WWE championship and Raw women's champion Becky Lynch verbally sparring with Doudrop. All attention on Raw now turns to Saturday and the Royal Rumble, which officially kicks off WrestleMania season and the march to wrestling's biggest event of the year.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Raw's top champions deliver final pre-Royal Rumble messages

The show opened with WWE champion Brock Lesnar and title challenger Bobby Lashley participating in a weigh-in ahead of their clash at Royal Rumble. Lashley was announced at 273 pounds. Unlike Lashley, Lesnar wore jeans, a few shirts and cowboy boots, weighing in at 286 pounds. Lashley told Lesnar he was not taking the situation seriously because he knows that Lashley won't take his WWE championship on Saturday. Lesnar responded by telling everyone to imagine the headlines on Sunday, saying there was a new reigning, defending WWE champion before calling Lashley "Bobby who?" Lesnar then walked off laughing.

On the women's side of things, Raw women's champion Becky Lynch and Doudrop participated in dueling video interviews. Lynch claimed to have paved the way for Doudrop as well as pointing out the guts it took to hand pick a powerhouse opponent to defend her title against at Royal Rumble. Doudrop claimed Lynch just picked "the new girl" because she thought it would be an easy win. Lynch told Doudrop she was owed a "thank you," which led to Doudrop storming out of the interview and into the room containing Lynch where the two briefly brawled before being broken up.

There wasn't much to Raw on Monday night. The opening weigh-in segment was oddly pointless, even for a weigh-in segment -- something with no real meaning in WWE. As for the women, why bother having them in separate areas of the building for the interview if you wanted a brawl? There was no drama added by Doudrop briefly storming out. If this show had any intention of building to the second-biggest show of the year, it failed in doing so. Grade: D+

• Bianca Belair def. Queen Zelina via pinfall after hitting the K.O.D.
• United States Championship – Kevin Owens def. Damian Priest (c) via disqualification allowing Priest to retain his title. This was a rematch of the previous week, when Owens won a non-title match by faking an injury to set up a stunner. Owens attempted the same scheme, this time with the title on the line, causing Priest to snap and refuse to follow the referee's directions to break, leading to the disqualification.
• Dana Brooke, Liv Morgan & Rhea Ripley def. Carmella, Tamina & Nikki A.S.H. via submission when Ripley locked Carmella in the reverse cloverleaf. After the match, Nikki blindsided Ripley, getting the better of her once again.
• RK-Bro beat Alpha Academy in a spelling bee. Gable was the only man to misspell his word, spelling "dissolution" instead of "disillusion" when he cut off the definition of the word to call himself "Mr. 4.0." The "Academic Challenge" will extend for two more weeks, with the winner of each week getting to pick the competition the following week.
• Randy Orton def. Chad Gable via pinfall after an RKO. Orton challenged Gable to the match following the spelling bee.
• AJ Styles def. Austin Theory via pinfall after a Phenomenal Forearm. Vince McMahon told Theory earlier in the night that he needed to finish off Styles and return with a good selfie, but Theory came up short in the end.
• The Mysterios def. The Street Profits via pinfall when Rey Mysterio pinned Montez Ford with a roll-up.
• Edge and Beth Phoenix interrupted Maryse's birthday celebration. The "Grit Couple" destroyed the security team Miz had hired to protect the celebration, sending a final pre-Royal Rumble message.
