COMMERCE, Texas (AP) Jay Alvarez's 24 points helped Houston Christian defeat Texas A&M-Commerce 69-65 on Saturday.
Alvarez also contributed six assists for the Huskies (3-11, 1-2 Southland Conference). Bonke Maring scored 18 points and added 15 rebounds. Marcus Greene had 18 points and shot 5 for 9 (2 for 4 from 3-point range) and 6 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Kalen Williams led the way for the Lions (6-10, 0-3) with 28 points, four assists and three steals. Kwo Agwa added 12 points, two steals and four blocks for Texas A&M-Commerce. Alonzo Dodd also had seven points and six rebounds.
