Player Outlook
A broad-shouldered, athletic 6-foot-3, 225-pound outfielder who the Rockies selected 38th overall in 2022, Jordan Beck dominated as an older hitter with a hitter-friendly home park at High-A Spokane. He slashed .292/.378/.566 with 20 home runs, 11 steals and a 20.8 percent strikeout rate in 76 games before getting promoted to Double-A. Predictably, Beck's production fell off in a more age-appropriate league, slashing .240/.342/.406 with five home runs, nine steals and a 31.8 percent strikeout rate in 50 games at Double-A. He swings and misses too much in the zone, taking big hacks with an aim to do damage on contact. Beck will need to cut his strikeout rate in a return to Double-A, and if he can do that, there's a chance he can make it as a Jack Suwinski/James Outman type of power/speed outfielder whose batting average is his biggest weakness.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Slated to undergo surgery

Beck is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left hand Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Beck suffered a broken fourth metacarpal in his left hand Saturday, and he will need to go under the knife to repair the fracture. A return timetable has not been offered up by the team, but Beck is expected to miss extended time as a result of the injury. While his big-league career hasn't gotten off to a great start, Beck has positioned himself among the team's top prospects with his performance at the upper levels of the minors. He should get another long look when healthy.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Lands on IL with fractured hand

The Rockies placed Beck (hand) on the 10-day injured list Sunday. Beck sustained the injury while making a diving catch in the outfield in the first inning of Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Phillies. He could be in store for a lengthy absence, regardless of whether or not surgery is required. Beck was slashing .173/.182/.307 with two home runs and eight RBI while striking out 29 times across 89 plate appearances since he received his first call to the big leagues April 30. Colorado recalled Sean Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque to take Beck's spot on the 26-man active roster.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Diagnosed with fractured hand

Beck has been diagnosed with a fractured left hand, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Beck made a terrific diving catch in left field to rob Nick Castellanos of a hit in the first inning of Saturday's loss to the Phillies, but he suffered a significant injury on the play. It's not clear at this point whether he will need surgery or how long he might be sidelined, but certainly Beck is headed to the injured list. Beck has slashed just .190/.198/.316 with a 30:1 K:BB in his first 23 games with the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Chance to keep playing time

Beck went 0-for-4 with a stolen base Tuesday against the Athletics. Beck has been a regular starter since being promoted April 30, though it appeared that his playing time would be squeezed with the returns of Kris Bryant and Nolan Jones (back/knee). However, Jones suffered a setback on his rehab assignment and Sean Bouchard was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room for Bryant to be activated. That keeps the door open for Beck to maintain regular playing time, though he has just a .212/.212/.348 line across his first 66 plate appearances in the majors.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Homers in consecutive games

Beck went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-5 loss to the Giants. Beck has now homered in back-to-back games, and he's gone 8-for-23 (.348) during a six-game hitting streak. The outfield prospect was known for his power in the minors, but it took a little time for him to click in the majors. He's now hitting .236 with two homers, seven RBI, four runs scored, a stolen base and two doubles over 55 plate appearances. Beck may be running out of time to make an impression with the Rockies, as Nolan Jones (back) started a rehab assignment Wednesday and could return soon.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Nabs steal in win

Beck went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers. Beck has received steady playing time while Nolan Jones (back) is on the injured list. It hasn't translated to much success yet -- Beck is batting .179 with 17 strikeouts and no walks over his first 39 major-league plate appearances. His steal Sunday was the first of his career. The 23-year-old outfielder still has power upside, but he'll need to start making contact more consistently before that upside can turn into results.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Likely to join big club

The Rockies are expected to promote Beck from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of Tuesday's game in Miami, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. The 23-year-old is likely to join the big club as a replacement on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Nolan Jones, who is expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list after he experienced a recurrence of back stiffness in Sunday's loss to the Astros. Beck will presumably take on an everyday role in his first taste of the big leagues, as he's regarded as one of the Rockies' top prospects and won't be promoted just to serve as a depth player. He had gotten off to a hot start to the season at Albuquerque, slashing .307/.405/.594 over 121 plate appearances while slugging five home runs and going 5-for-5 on stolen-base attempts.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Ready for Double-A

Beck has been promoted from High-A Spokane to Double-A Hartford. This was a necessary promotion for Beck, who was too old (22) and talented to be playing at High-A anymore. He slashed .292/.378/.566 with 20 home runs and 11 steals in 76 games for Spokane. Beck posted a solid 20.8 percent strikeout rate at High-A but has struck out five times in his first nine plate appearances for the Yard Goats.
