Royals' Robbie Grossman: Scooped by Kansas City
The Royals claimed Grossman off waivers from the Rangers on Saturday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Grossman was waived by the Rangers on Thursday after posting a .689 OPS across 119 plate appearances with the team, and he'll now head to Kansas City to aid in its playoff push. The 34-year-old will be joined in the Royals' outfield picture by Tommy Pham, who was also claimed off waivers Saturday, and the two veterans will likely compete for time at the corner-outfield and designated-hitter spots.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Placed on waivers
The Rangers placed Grossman on waivers Thursday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
Since being traded from the White Sox to the Rangers in May, Grossman has slashed .235/.336/.353 with three homers and 10 RBI across 119 plate appearances. However, he's failed to receive regular playing time lately and is now available for any team that needs outfield/DH depth for the final month of the season. If the 34-year-old passes through waivers unclaimed, he would keep his spot on the Rangers.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Playing-time outlook worsens
Grossman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Grossman had started in three of the Rangers' last four games and has an active five-game hitting streak going, but his playing time is expected to become more sparse moving forward. Josh Jung (wrist) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Monday, and he and Josh Smith could end up serving as the Rangers' primary options at designated hitter moving forward while the other player makes starts at third base. Grossman remains an option in left field and right field, but Wyatt Langford and Adolis Garcia look to be manager Bruce Bochy's preferred starters at those two respective positions.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Logs two hits as DH
Grossman started at designated hitter and went 2-for-4 in Thursday's 2-1 win over the White Sox.
Grossman got the start at DH, which has been a revolving door for the Rangers in 2024. Justin Foscue was given a four-game run after being called up last weekend, but he went 1-for-13 with seven strikeouts and hasn't been seen since Tuesday. It's been Grossman and Travis Jankowski the last two days. Eventually, when third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) is ready to return, Josh Smith will likely settle in as the primary DH.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Slugs homer in blowout win
Grossman went 1-for-1 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional RBI in Sunday's 13-2 win over the Rays.
Grossman got into a game for the first time in July with an appearance off the bench in the blowout win. He delivered the Rangers' last two runs with a solo shot in the seventh inning and a bases-loaded walk in the eighth. While Grossman is 9-for-30 (.300) over his last 10 games, it's a span dating back to June 11. He's often been limited to a short-side platoon role despite being a switch hitter, and his extended absence from the lineup can be explained by the Rangers facing a stretch of right-handed starting pitchers over the last six games. The outfielder is slashing just .216/.331/.306 over 160 plate appearances between the Rangers and the White Sox this year. The Rangers are expected to face three more righties during their series against the Angels from Monday to Wednesday, so expect more time on the bench for Grossman.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Taking seat Tuesday
Grossman is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.
Grossman had started back-to-back games at DH, but he'll give way to Derek Hill on Tuesday. Grossman is slashing .211/.323/.278 across 158 plate appearances this season.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Active in win
Grossman started in left field and went 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Mets.
Grossman ignited a rally in the bottom of the first inning when he drew the first of three two-out walks, stole a base (his third of the season), and eventually scored Texas' first run. He later raced home from first base on a double in the sixth. Grossman has recently become a fixture in the starting lineup against left-handers, usually batting third. He's batting .333 (9-for-27) with a home run, a double, six RBI, a stolen base and five additional runs scored during the month of June.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Makes third straight start
Grossman started at designated hitter and went 0-for-3 in Monday's 2-1 loss to Detroit.
Grossman served as the starting DH for a third straight game, all against lefties, and is 3-for-10 with a double and three RBI during that stretch. His elevation to the starting lineup coincides with Ezequiel Duran replacing the lefty-hitting Nathaniel Lowe at first base in those three contests, which suggests a strategic change against left-handers. The Rangers have been middle-of-the-pack against lefties this season (.242 average, 16th).

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Makes impact in win
Grossman went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Marlins.
Grossman doubled in the Rangers' first run then produced another run with a seventh-inning single. Until Saturday, he hadn't made an impact since the Rangers acquired him from the White Sox -- Grossman entered the game 2-for-20 with Texas.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: On bench after four straight starts
Grossman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Though the Rangers have an opening in the lineup at designated hitter while Wyatt Langford (hamstring) is on the shelf, Grossman hasn't yet taken hold of an everyday lineup spot, despite starting in each of the previous four games. Three of those starts came while the Rangers were facing left-handed pitching, and switch-hitting Grossman hasn't helped his case for earning steadier playing time by going 1-for-16 with five walks in seven games since he was acquired from the White Sox earlier this month. The Rangers may prefer to rotate a number of players at DH rather than committing to Grossman as their preferred option.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Starts in left field Sunday
Grossman started in left field and went 1-for-4 in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Rockies.
Grossman was the third different starter in left field in as many games. He followed Ezequiel Duran and Travis Jankowski, as manager Bruce Bochy navigates injuries to Evan Carter (back) and Wyatt Langford (hamstring, IL). This was Grossman's second start in three games since he was traded to Texas from the White Sox last week -- the other was as designated hitter.

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Traded to Texas
The Rangers acquired Grossman from the White Sox on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa.
Grossman won a World Series ring with the Rangers last season, and they've now elected to bring him back into the fold. The 34-year-old will provide some depth in the corner outfield and at designated hitter while Wyatt Langford (oblique) is on the 10-day injured list. Grossman should see most of his opportunities against left-handed pitching.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Logs two hits, swipes bag Sunday
Grossman went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals.
Grossman opened the game with a leadoff double off Matthew Liberatore before ripping a one-out single in the third frame, swiping second base for his second steal of the season. He also added a sacrifice fly off John King in top of the seventh inning, scoring teammate Bryan Ramos for the team's final tally of the game. Grossman has been splitting time with Gavin Sheets in the outfield, starting most often when the team faces a left-hander like Liberatore, but he has now gone 4-for-11 with three doubles, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base over his last three contests.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Losing work to Gavin Sheets
Grossman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
The switch-hitting Grossman finds himself on the bench against a right-handed pitcher for the second day in a row. While Grossman should still be a regular part of the lineup versus left-handed pitching, Gavin Sheets appears to have supplanted him as the primary option in right field.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Out of Tuesday's lineup
Grossman is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game at Minnesota.
Grossman has a .526 OPS in 53 plate appearances this season and will sit Tuesday for the third time in Chicago's past five games. The veteran outfielder's time with the White Sox could be up soon if the organization elects to promote Tommy Pham.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Back in lineup Sunday
Grossman is starting in right field and batting second in Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Grossman has not been in the starting lineup for each of the White Sox's last two contests. He's gone 0-for-9 in his last three appearances, striking out five times over that span. The switch-hitting Grossman will hope to get back on track against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola.

White Sox's Robbie Grossman: Not starting Saturday
Grossman isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.
Grossman has fallen into an 0-for-9 skid since having his five-game hitting streak snapped, and he'll now sit for the second straight game Saturday. His absence will allow Gavin Sheets to start in right field, batting third.
