Bauers isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox. The White Sox will send left-hander Garrett Crochet to the mound to start Saturday's contest, meaning the lefty-hitting Bauers will watch the beginning of the game from the dugout. Rhys Hoskins will start at first base, with Christian Yelich in left field and Gary Sanchez in as the DH.... See More ... See Less

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Sitting against southpaw
Bauers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins. Bauers will give way to Owen Miller at first base for a second straight night as the Marlins trot out another lefty starter. Bauers delivered a pinch-hit double during Monday's extra-innings loss.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: On bench against lefty
Bauers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates. Southpaw Martin Perez is on the bump for Pittsburgh, so the lefty-hitting Bauers will make his way to the bench for the series finale. Owen Miller will fill in at first base, which should be Bauers' primary home for the foreseeable future following Rhys Hoskins' (hamstring) move to the injured list Tuesday.... See More ... Brewers' Jake Bauers: Belts grand slam
Bauers went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Monday's loss to the Pirates. Bauers cut Pittsburgh's lead to 7-6 with his eighth-inning grand slam but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback. He now has four home runs this season and two in his last four appearances. He's gone 8-for-22 (.364) with nine RBI so far in May. Bauers owns a .244/.326/.476 slash line with 10 extra-base hits and 21 RBI this season.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Heads to bench Sunday
Bauers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Bauers is on the bench for the series finale, but after producing a .400/.571/.900 slash line with two stolen bases while starting in each of the past four games, he may have moved back into a near-everyday role. Jackson Chourio -- who had been benched for the past four games -- will rejoin the starting nine and replace Bauers in the corner outfield.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Records fourth steal
Bauers went 1-for-2 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals. Bauers got plunked by St. Louis starter Kyle Gibson in the third inning to force in the first run of the game. After losing playing time to Tyler Black earlier in the month, Bauers has gotten in the lineup for four straight games, going 4-for-10 with three walks, two steals, four RBI and three runs in that span. The 28-year-old is likely to remain in a strong-side platoon role with most of his playing time coming in the corner outfield. He's up to a .231/.318/.436 slash line through 88 plate appearances on the season.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Losing work to Tyler Black
Bauers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. The lefty-hitting Bauers is on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Javier Assad) for the second day in a row. With prospect Tyler Black recently getting a call-up from Triple-A Nashville and quickly moving into a regular role, Bauers' time as an everyday player versus right-handed pitching has seemingly come to an end.... Brewers' Jake Bauers: On bench versus lefty
Bauers is not in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday versus the Rays. Southpaw Tyler Alexander will start on the mound Tuesday for Tampa Bay, which means the lefty-hitting Bauers will begin the game on the bench. Rhys Hoskins will get the start at first base and Gary Sanchez will serve as the DH for Milwaukee. However, Bauer will have competition for playing time at first base going forward with the arrival of Tyler Black, who was promoted from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Three-run homer in loss
Bauers went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 15-5 loss to the Yankees. Bauers look Marcus Stroman deep for a game-tying three-run shot in the bottom of the fifth inning, knotting the game up at 4-4. He also added a double and a single in the contest, securing his second straight multi-hit performance in a game he started. Bauers is now batting .214 with two home runs, 12 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base over 56 at-bats in 18 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Gets breather versus LHP
Bauers isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees. Southpaw Carlos Rodon will start on the hill Saturday for the Yankees, meaning the lefty-hitting Bauers will watch the beginning of the game from the dugout. Rhys Hoskins will cover first base in his absence while William Contreras serves as Milwaukee's DH and Gary Sanchez starts behind the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: On bench again Wednesday
Bauers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates. Bauers was on the bench for Tuesday's 2-1 loss while Pittsburgh brought left-hander Bailey Falter to the hill, and the lefty-hitting first baseman will remain in a reserve role Wednesday while southpaw Josh Fleming opens the contest for the Bucs. Owen Miller will draw the start at first base in place of Bauers.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Sits versus lefty
Bauers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at Pittsburgh. Bauers returned from the bereavement list Monday and went 1-for-3 with a double and a strikeout, but he'll hit the bench Tuesday as lefty Bailey Falter starts for the Pirates. Rhys Hoskins will handle first base while William Contreras rests his legs as the designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Returns from bereavement list
The Brewers reinstated Bauers (personal) from the bereavement list Monday. Bauers was away from the Brewers for this past weekend's series in St. Louis but is back on the active roster for the series opener in Pittsburgh. He'll continue to see regular action at first base or as a designated hitter against right-handed pitching.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Goes on bereavement list
Bauers was placed on the bereavement list by the Brewers on Friday. Bauers will be away, by rule, for at least the three-game weekend series in St. Louis and potentially as many as seven games. Rhys Hoskins will be at first base Friday for the Brewers.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Heads to bench Sunday
Bauers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles. Even with a right-hander (Corbin Burnes) taking the hill for the opposition, the lefty-hitting Bauers will find himself on the bench for the second time in the series. Bauers could end up moving into more of a part-time role if Rhys Hoskins continues to see regular duties at first base and if the Brewers elect to rotate players at designated hitter.... See More ... Brewers' Jake Bauers: Launches first homer
Bauers went 1-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 11-5 win over the Orioles. The Brewers rattled off 15 hits in total on the afternoon, but Bauers had the biggest blow with a three-run homer off Dean Kremer in the fourth inning that broke open a 5-5 tie. It was the 28-year-old first baseman's first long ball of the season, and he's batting just .161 (5-for-31) through nine games while filling a strong-side platoon role. His defensive reputation should buy him some extra time to get going at the plate, but the fact that top prospect Tyler Black is getting reps at first base in Triple-A is an ominous sign for Bauers' fantasy outlook.... Brewers' Jake Bauers: Not in Monday's lineup
Bauers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds. Bauers started the previous two games and went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base Sunday versus Seattle, but he'll take a seat Monday against Cincinnati righty Graham Ashcraft. Rhys Hoskins will handle first base while Oliver Dunn serves as the designated hitter, opening up the hot corner for Joey Ortiz.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Sitting Friday
Bauers isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Friday's game versus Seattle. Bauers will sit for the third time in four games despite Seattle sending right-hander Logan Gilbert to the mound Friday. Rhys Hoskins will cover first base while Oliver Dunn serves as Milwaukee's DH, allowing Joey Ortiz to start at third base and bat eighth.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: On bench against righty
Bauers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins. Bauers had cracked the lineup in two of the Brewers' previous three matchups versus right-handed pitching, but he'll sit Wednesday versus Twins righty Chris Paddack. Given that he's signed to a modest one-year deal and is off to a 1-for-10 start to the season, Bauers likely won't have a long leash as a strong-side platoon player and already seems to be losing some job security.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Getting start Tuesday
Bauers is starting at first base and batting fifth in Tuesday's game versus the Twins. Bauers has now handled first base in two of the last three contests while Rhys Hoskins serves as the designated hitter. Meanwhile, Gary Sanchez -- who many thought would garner regular starts at DH -- is on the bench for the third straight game against a right-hander. Bauers is 1-for-7 with a double in the early going this season.... See More ... See Less
