Rays' Aaron Civale: Fans six in no-decision
Civale came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Red Sox, giving up three runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.
The right-hander kept Boston off the board his first time through the order, but a two-run double by Dominic Smith in the fourth inning and a solo shot by Ceddanne Rafaela in the fifth sent Civale packing after 76 pitches (53 strikes). He's failed to last more than five innings in any of his last five starts, a stretch in which he's stumbled to an 8.87 ERA and 1.71 WHIP, and his rotation spot could be in jeopardy if he doesn't turn things around by the time Ryan Pepiot (leg) and Shane Baz (elbow) are ready to rejoin the team. Civale lines up to make his next start on the road this weekend in Toronto.

Rays' Aaron Civale: Pulled in fifth frame again
Civale (2-3) took the loss against the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 4.2 innings.
Civale began the game with four scoreless innings before serving up a Paul DeJong two-run homer in the fifth. The right-hander got the next two batters out but then yielded a single and a walk before getting the hook. It was the fourth straight game in which Civale was yanked from a start during the fifth inning, and he's recorded an ugly 9.82 ERA and 1.91 WHIP along with a 17:8 K:BB over 18.2 frames during that stretch.

Rays' Aaron Civale: Bailed out by offense
Civale escaped with a no-decision Friday in Tampa Bay's 10-8 win over the Mets, coughing up seven runs on six hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.
New York tagged him for three runs in the second inning and four more in the fifth, but Civale still left the mound with the Rays ahead 9-7. The right-hander tossed 52 of 77 pitches for strikes as he allowed five or more runs for the third straight outing. The rough patch has sent his ratios soaring, and Civale will carry a 6.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 39:10 K:BB through 36.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the White Sox.

Rays' Aaron Civale: Surrenders six runs Saturday
Civale allowed six runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out three batters over 4.1 innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Saturday.
Civale made it through three scoreless frames before serving up an Andrew Benintendi three-run homer in the fourth. The right-hander returned for the fifth frame but gave up three straight hits for another run before departing with one out, and both runners he left on base later came around to score. Civale began the campaign with three quality starts among his first four appearances, but he's fallen off since then, yielding 11 runs across nine innings over his subsequent two starts. He'll try to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively lined up to be a home outing against the Mets next week.
