Parker (4-3) took the loss to the Guardians on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Parker loaded the bases and allowed a two-run single to Kyle Manzardo in the first inning and surrendered another run in the third when Jose Ramirez scored on a wild pitch. Parker's four walks were a season high, but he was still able to pitch into the sixth and has not allowed more than three runs in any of his nine starts this season. Parker will take a 3.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 43:12 K:BB into a home matchup against Atlanta next week.... See More ... See Less

Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Quality start again in win
Parker (4-2) earned the win Monday against Atlanta, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out six. With a 100-pitch effort, Parker tossed his second straight quality start and third of the season. The Nationals starter generated a solid 17 whiffs to collect his six strikeouts. The 24-year-old lefty continues an impressive rookie campaign, now owning a 3.45 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 38:8 K:BB in 44.1 innings. Parker is tentatively scheduled to pitch against the Guardians on the road in his next start.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Getting another day of rest
Parker's next projected start will be pushed back to Monday at Atlanta, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports. Parker was initially scheduled to face the Mariners on Sunday. Parker will have a full week in between starts, getting the series opener against Atlanta instead of Patrick Corbin. On the year, Parker owns a 3.32 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP across 38 innings.... Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Solid in win
Parker (3-2) earned the win Monday against the Twins, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out seven. Parker tossed his second quality start of the season, requiring 94 pitches to complete the accomplishment. The rookie southpaw has impressed in his first 38 career innings, posting a 3.32 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 32:8 K:BB. Parker currently lines up to face the Mariners in his next start this weekend.... Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Stuck with loss in nightcap
Parker (2-2) took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks over five-plus innings. He struck out three. The rookie southpaw got little support in a 4-0 loss, with all the damage off him coming on a three-run blast by Andrew Vaughn in the third inning. Parker exited after 82 pitches (50 strikes), and after not serving up a homer in his first four big-league starts, he's been taken deep three times in his last two. He'll carry a 3.09 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB through 32 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Twins.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Starting Game 2 of twin bill
Parker will start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox. This won't disrupt Parker's routine, as he was already scheduled to take the mound Tuesday. He'll get the ball for the nightcap after Trevor Williams toes the rubber in Game 1.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Falls just short of quality start
Parker allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Wednesday. Parker served up his first two homers of the season -- both solo shots -- in the contest, but those were the only runs he allowed. He was given the hook after throwing only 77 pitches with two outs in the sixth inning, preventing him from notching his second quality start. Despite that disappointment and the fact that he fanned only three batters, this was another positive outing for the rookie, as he's now given up two or fewer runs in four of his five appearances. Parker has made a strong impression in the majors thus far with a 2.67 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB over 27 innings through five starts.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Takes first loss
Parker (2-1) took the loss against Texas on Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings. Parker had his least-effective outing through four big-league starts, giving up a season-high three runs while taking his first career loss. The southpaw still managed to keep Washington within striking distance, but the Nationals' offense failed to scratch against four Rangers pitchers. Parker's ERA is still a commendable 2.53, and it's supported by a strong 1.08 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB through 21.1 frames.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Permits one run over four frames
Parker took a no-decision in Saturday's win over the Marlins, permitting one run on six hits and two walks over four innings. The Marlins made Parker work, particularly in the first inning when he gave up two singles, walked two and allowed a run on a wild pitch. He needed 82 pitches to cover his four frames, ultimately costing him what would have been an easy win. It was easily the least impressive of Parker's three starts so far in the majors, but he still managed to give up just the one run. The lefty's next start is tentatively slated to come on the road versus the Rangers.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Dominates Astros for second win
Parker (2-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing no runs on three hits over seven innings against the Astros. He struck out eight. Parker needed only 73 pitches to shut down the Astros through seven, scattering three singles and only allowing one baserunner to reach second base. Parker has allowed just two runs on seven hits with no walks and 12 strikeouts over 12 innings in his first two career starts against the Dodgers and Astros, winning both decisions. It's tough to envision the Nationals removing Parker from the rotation following two-consecutive impressive performances, especially with Josiah Gray (elbow) currently on the shelf. His next start is tentatively scheduled for next weekend when the Nationals travel to Miami to take on the struggling Marlins.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Draws another start
Parker is slated to start Sunday's game against the Astros at Nationals Park, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Parker was able to limit a tough Dodgers lineup to two runs on four hits and no walks over five innings Monday in his big-league debut, so it comes as little surprise that he'll be rewarded for his efforts with another turn through the rotation. If he continues to perform well, Parker will have a path to sticking in the rotation on a long-term basis with Josiah Gray (elbow) facing an uncertain timeline to return from the 15-day injured list.... Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Beats Dodgers in big-league debut
Parker (1-0) earned the win Monday in the Nationals' 6-4 win over the Dodgers, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out four batters over five innings. Parker was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Monday afternoon and faced the daunting task of going up against a loaded Dodgers lineup in his first major-league outing. The 24-year-old southpaw handled the task with aplomb, allowing just four baserunners and limiting Los Angeles to a pair of runs to nab the win. Given his successful debut, Parker will likely remain in the rotation for the time being with Josiah Gray on the 15-day injured list due to a right flexor strain.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Moves to High-A
Parker was promoted to High-A Wilmington on Monday, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports. Parker was Washington's fifth-round pick in 2020. He's displayed the strikeout stuff the Nationals were hoping to see, having fanned 85 while posting a 4.08 ERA across 57.1 innings with Low-A Fredericksburg. He'll look to continue punching out batters at a high rate with Wilmington.... See More ... See Less

Mark Zuckerman@MarkZuckerman1D agoFinal: Guardians 3, Nats 2. The Nationals basically gifted all 3 runs with sloppy defense and prevented themselves from potentially scoring more with sloppy baserunning/basecoaching. Plus, CJ Abrams was scratched and Jacob Young departed in-game with injuries.
