Blalock will skip over the Triple-A level and go straight to the big leagues after collecting a 2.27 ERA and 29:7 K:BB over 35.2 innings. The 23-year-old has been used as a starter in the minors, but if he makes his major-league debut during this stint, it would appear likely to come in relief.

Blalock was added to the Brewers' 40-man roster this winter and is seen as one of the organization's top pitching prospects, but he's most likely a year or more away from making his MLB debut. The 22-year-old righty split time between the Single-A and High-A levels in the Red Sox and Brewers organizations in 2023, logging a collective 2.82 ERA and 75:20 K:BB in 67 innings over his 15 starts.

The 22-year-old right-hander is likely at least a year away from putting himself in consideration for a spot in the big leagues, but the Brewers saw enough from Blalock following his Aug. 1 acquisition from the Red Sox to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft this winter. After missing most of the first two months of the past season season while finishing up his recovery from March 2022 Tommy John surgery, Blalock proceeded to turn in a 2.82 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 75:20 K:BB over 67 innings between stops at the Single-A and High-A levels.

Blalock was traded from the Red Sox to the Brewers on Tuesday in exchange for Luis Urias, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
A legitimate pop-up prospect this season, Blalock had Tommy John surgery in March 2022 and made his 2023 debut May 24. He sits 93-95 mph with his fastball and touches 97 mph while also displaying a potentially plus curveball and good control. Through seven starts at High-A, Blalock sports a 2.55 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 35.1 innings. His 6.2 percent walk rate is particularly encouraging for a pitcher who is recently recovered from TJS.
