Robert (hip) will serve as the designated hitter in a rehab game Sunday with Triple-A Charlotte and could be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as Tuesday, MLB.com reports. Even with the positive news, manager Pedro Grifol cautioned that Robert won't return from the IL as an everyday player and will need a scheduled day off between every 2-to-4 games. Robert has appeared in three games with Charlotte to date, going 1-for-12 with a home run and five strikeouts.... See More ... See Less

White Sox's Luis Robert: Homers in first game with Charlotte
Robert (hip) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's rehab appearance with Triple-A Charlotte. Tuesday was Robert's first game with Charlotte after he spent the previous five days with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League club. He also started in center field and played seven innings, a good sign that he's nearing his return from the injured list.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Could return in early June
Robert (hip) could rejoin the White Sox early in June following a full week of rehab games with Triple-A Charlotte, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Robert has played one rehab game with the Arizona Complex League White Sox, homering in that contest. He's slated to join Charlotte on Tuesday to continue ramping things up, and it sounds like he could be activated by the White Sox as soon as June 4 against the Cubs. Robert has been sidelined since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Beginning assignment Tuesday
Robert (hip) will begin playing in rehab games at Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Manager Pedro Grifol didn't specify exactly how long Robert will be in the minors, saying it will be a matter of getting him enough at-bats to get his timing down. The 26-year-old outfielder is currently playing in complex-league games in Arizona and seems to be trending toward a return in early June.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Rehab games could come this week
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Robert (hip) could begin playing in games with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate later this week, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. The White Sox are aiming for Robert to be able to run at 90 percent effort in the coming days. If that happens, Robert is expected to be cleared for Complex League games. The 26-year-old presumably would eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate to continue his rehab. Robert has been out since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain but should return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month if all goes well.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Ramping up baseball work
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday that Robert (hip) is taking batting practice and running at 80 percent, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The 26-year-old is about halfway through the short end of his initial recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks, and he appears to be a bit ahead of schedule. Robert could be ready to rejoin the White Sox in mid-May, but the organization is likely to remain cautious as he ramps up his baseball activities over the next couple weeks.... See More ... White Sox's Luis Robert: Could return in mid-May
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Friday that Robert (hip) could be back from the 10-day injured list in mid-May, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. The 26-year-old was given a six-week recovery timeline after he landed on the shelf April 6 with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain, and it appears he may be slightly ahead of schedule. Veterans Tommy Pham and Rafael Ortega had their contracts selected by Chicago on Friday and should see most of the action in center field until Robert can return from the injured list.... White Sox's Luis Robert: Trending toward six-week absence
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Friday that Robert (hip) is trending toward a six-week absence, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. It's good news, as that's the shorter end of the 6-to-8 week timeline that had been provided when Robert went down with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain. The White Sox have not put Robert on the 60-day injured list and it sounds like it might not be necessary for them to do so. Dominic Fletcher has been seeing the bulk of the starts in center field for Chicago since Robert was hurt.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Likely out 6-to-8 weeks
Robert was diagnosed Monday with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain and is expected to be sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Robert suffered this past Friday while running the bases and was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday. He dealt with a Grade 3 right hip flexor strain back in 2021 and wound up being sidelined for nearly three and a half months. Dominic Fletcher has shifted over to center field for the White Sox to accommodate for the loss of Robert, while Kevin Pillar and Robbie Grossman should see increases in playing time in right field. The club could also eventually decide to call up Oscar Colas from Triple-A Charlotte to handle an everyday role in the outfield.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Lands on 10-day IL
The White Sox placed Robert (hip) on the 10-day injured list Saturday. Imaging confirmed that Robert sustained a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain while running the bases in the ninth inning of Friday's loss to the Royals, per James Fegan of SoxMachine.com. It's in a similar location to his tear from 2021. With Robert likely facing an extended stint on the IL, the White Sox recalled infielder Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte.... See More ... White Sox's Luis Robert: Injures hip flexor
Robert suffered a right hip flexor injury during Friday's loss against the Royals, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Manager Pedro Grifol said Robert would gets X-rays on Saturday, but he confirmed that the issue is in the outfielder's right hip. Robert has battled hip issues before in his career, missing roughly three months of the 2021 season due to a right hip flexor injury. Should he miss an extended period of time, Kevin Pillar and Dominic Fletcher could shift their platoon to center field, allowing Robbie Grossman and Gavin Sheets to handle right.... See More ... White Sox's Luis Robert: Exits early with injury
Robert was removed from Friday's game against the Royals with an apparent right leg injury, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Robert came up limping after hitting a double in the ninth inning of Friday's contest, and he was reluctant to put any weight on his right leg as he hopped toward second base. Losing the 26-year-old slugger would be a huge blow to a White Sox lineup that is already struggling to begin the year and just placed Eloy Jimenez (thigh) on the IL.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Slugs two homers Saturday
Robert went 3-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI in Saturday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Tigers. The 26-year-old outfielder teed off against Kenta Maeda, belting a two-run homer in the first and third innings to help stake the White Sox to an early lead that the bullpen couldn't protect. Robert cranked out a career-high 38 homers and stole 20 bases in 2023 while slashing .264/.315/.542, but that was also the first season in which he played more than 98 games for Chicago. His ability to stay healthy will likely be the biggest factor in determining whether he can repeat that performance.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Healthy heading into 2024
Robert is fully healthy in spring training after his 2023 season was ended by a knee injury, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Robert was mostly healthy across a full season for the first time in four big-league campaigns and racked up 590 plate appearances. He narrowly missed a 40/20 season and should be in line for another dynamic stat line in 2024 so long as he can remain on the field. While the White Sox may deal many of their remaining veteran players as they continue to rebuild, Robert is expected to stay on the roster as he is under team control for four more seasons.... White Sox's Luis Robert: Knee injury ends season
Robert was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a mild left MCL sprain, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Robert suffered the injury during Sunday's win over the Red Sox and an MRI on Monday revealed the sprain. While the injury is considered relatively minor, a 2-to-4 week timetable is more than enough to end Robert's season with so little time left. It was a marvelous 2023 campaign for Robert, who slashed .264/.315/.542 with 38 home runs and 20 stolen bases across 145 games.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Could be headed to IL
Robert (knee) could be placed on the 10-day injured list, which would end his season, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Van Schouwen hears that Tyler Naquin is expected to join the White Sox, which would seem to point to a stint on the IL for Robert, who exited Sunday's game in Boston with a left knee injury. The injury isn't believed to be serious, but with so little time remaining in the season, there would be little incentive to push Robert to return. If his campaign is indeed over, Robert would finish 2023 having slashed .264/.315/.542 with 38 home runs and 20 stolen bases.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Dealing with sore knee
Robert was removed from Sunday's game against the Red Sox with left knee soreness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Robert suffered the injury on a slide into second for a successful stolen base after he worked a walk during the first inning Sunday. The 26-year-old outfielder will be evaluated Monday after the team returns to Chicago and should be considered day-to-day in the meantime.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Departs with apparent injury
Robert was removed from Sunday's game at Boston with an apparent knee injury, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Robert walked during the first inning but had an awkward slide into second base, and the training staff appeared to be checking out his knee before he exited the contest. The 26-year-old had regularly been plagued by injuries over the previous two seasons, but he's stayed healthy in 2023 with a career-high 145 games played.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Luis Robert: Two steals in Friday's loss
Robert went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Red Sox. He nearly manufactured Chicago's first run of the night by himself, swiping second and third base after a one-out single in the sixth inning before Andrew Vaughn brought him home on a grounder that Rafael Devers couldn't corral. The steals were Robert's first in September, but he's now one pilfer away from his first career 20-20 campaign -- through 143 games, he's slashing .264/.315/.539 with 37 homers, 19 steals, 79 RBI and 89 runs.... White Sox's Luis Robert: Three hits, homer in win
Robert went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's loss against Washington. It's his first multi-hit game since Aug. 30. Robert is now 4-for-9 with a pair of homers in his last two games after going 0-for-16 with 10 strikeouts in his previous four contests. The 26-year-old outfielder appears to be rounding back into form down the stretch. Robert's been a bright spot overall for Chicago this season, slashing .265/.316/.543 with 37 homers, 88 runs scored, 79 RBI and 17 steals across 584 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less

Scott Merkin@scottmerkin16H ago"Hoo-rah shit" ranks as one of the greatest quotes I've heard in 22 years covering the White Sox. Tommy Pham is an infinitely interesting guy to watch play and talk with, just in the short time he's been with the team, and an intense competitor.

Scott Merkin@scottmerkin17H agoPham is also a guy I see talking with players after games about what transpired, younger players picking his brain. He told me he did the same with Matt Holliday when he was a younger player, so it's good to see the same with the White Sox. A great plus for a young team.
