  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Productive in return to majors

Bouchard went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base Monday against the Guardians.

Bouchard was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday to replace Jordan Beck (hand). He's started both games in left field since, batting seventh and eighth in the lineup. Bouchard should have some consistent playing time in front of him, as Nolan Jones (back) is still at least a few days away from beginning a new rehab assignment.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Summoned from Triple-A

The Rockies recalled Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

Bouchard will move back up to the big club after the Rockies placed outfielder Jordan Beck (hand) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Bouchard was sent down to Triple-A on May 21 after slashing .222/.333/.370 with one home run and three RBI over 63 plate appearances in the majors. He showed improvement in his short stint in the minors, going 6-for-15 with two home runs and five RBI over his last four games with Albuquerque. He'll start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Phillies, but Bouchard may be ticketed for a short-side platoon role while he's up with the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Expected to be recalled

The Rockies are expected to recall Bouchard prior to Sunday's game against the Phillies, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

He'll take the roster spot of the injured Jordan Beck (hand). Bouchard was just sent down earlier this week after slashing .222/.333/.370 in 18 games this season. With Beck out indefinitely and Nolan Jones (back/knee) still on the mend, Bouchard could see ample playing time in the corner outfield spots for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Sent to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Bouchard to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

With Kris Bryant (back) returning from the injured list, Bouchard will head back to the minors to free up a roster spot. The 28-year-old outfielder has put up a 1.042 OPS in the minors so far, though his numbers fell to .222/.333/.370 across 63 plate appearances upon moving to the big leagues. He would likely return to Colorado later this season if the Rockies find themselves in need of outfield depth.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Sitting in third straight

Bouchard is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

The Rockies haven't indicated that Bouchard is dealing with an injury or illness, so he'll find himself out of the starting nine for a third straight game in what looks to be a performance-related benching. Jake Cave will draw a third start in row in right field at Bouchard's expense, but both are likely to see reductions in playing time in the near future due to Kris Bryant (back) being on the cusp of a return from the injured list.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Taking control of right field

Bouchard will start in right field and bat fifth in Thursday's game against the Giants.

Bouchard will pick up his fourth straight start in right field and looks to have re-emerged as the Rockies' preferred option at that position over the likes of Jake Cave and Hunter Goodman. Over his prior three starts, Bouchard has gone 5-for-10 with a home run, two doubles and two walks.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Blasts first homer

Bouchard reached base three times Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against the Pirates.

Bouchard followed teammate Jacob Stallings' two-run blast with a shot of his own during a second inning that saw the Rockies jump out to an early three-run lead. It was the first homer of the campaign for Bouchard, who later added a double for his first multi-hit effort of the season. Bouchard got the starting nod against Pirates lefty Bailey Falter, marking his first start in four games, as he appears to be mired on the short side of a platoon in right field with Jake Cave, pending the return of Kris Bryant (back), who's currently on the injured list.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Back in lineup versus lefty

Bouchard will start in right field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Pirates, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Bouchard is back in the lineup after he was on the bench for each of the previous three games. The 27-year-old looked as though he might have been headed for a full-time role in right field once Kris Bryant (back) was placed on the injured list April 17, but Bouchard's opportunity seems to have fallen by the wayside while he's posted a .619 OPS through 33 plate appearances in the big leagues this season. While he's in starting nine Sunday against Pirates southpaw Bailey Falter, the right-handed-hitting Bouchard could end up occupying the short side of a platoon in right field with the lefty-hitting Jake Cave until Bryant returns.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Takes seat Thursday

Bouchard is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

Bouchard started in right field or at designated hitter in each of the last three games, going 1-for-10 with a run and an RBI. The Rockies have leaned on Bouchard as their primary replacement in the lineup for Kris Bryant (back), but Bouchard's time as a near-everyday player could soon come to an end if he's unable to get going at the plate. Since being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on April 17, Bouchard is slashing .214/.333/.286 over 33 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Heads to bench Thursday

Bouchard is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.

Bouchard will give way to Hunter Goodman after starting each of the past four games in right field while going 3-for-13 with two doubles, a walk and a stolen base. While Kris Bryant (back) remains on the injured list, Bouchard should still maintain an edge over Goodman and Jake Cave for a regular lineup spot in the corner outfield.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Taking over as right fielder

Bouchard went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Tuesday against the Padres.

Bouchard has started five of six games since being called up by the Rockies, with four of those appearances coming in right field. He's collected one hit in every contest, including two doubles. Bouchard should remain a regular as long as Kris Bryant (back) is sidelined.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Returns from Triple-A

The Rockies recalled Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.

Bouchard has put up a 1.049 OPS over 14 games with Albuquerque this season. He'll join the Rockies' 26-man active roster as a replacement for Kris Bryant (back), who was moved to the 10-day injured list. Bouchard will start in left field and will bat sixth in Wednesday's game in Philadelphia, but it's unclear if he'll be in store for a regular role while Bryant is on the mend.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Steps into starting lineup

Bouchard went 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored Wednesday against the Phillies.

The Rockies recalled Bouchard on Wednesday to take the roster spot of Kris Bryant (back), and he immediately started in left field and hit sixth. Nolan Jones and Charlie Blackmon both were on the bench against a lefty, but Bouchard is not likely to be a regular in the lineup against right-handed pitchers.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Optioned to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Bouchard to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Bouchard entered spring training as the perceived favorite for the right field job, but he slashed just .209/.314/.349 in Cactus League play and also missed time with an oblique issue. That was enough to cost him a roster spot, at least at the start of the season. The Rockies appear poised to go with a combination of Charlie Blackmon, Jake Cave and Michael Toglia in right field.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: May be losing grip on starting role

Bouchard began camp slowly due to an oblique issue, which could cost him at-bats to begin the regular season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Bouchard has been on the field regularly since Feb. 23, but he has yet to get on track and is hitting only .174/.286/.348 across 28 plate appearances while also striking out at a 32.1 percent clip this spring. Charlie Blackmon has also played better than expected in right field, which could lead to the veteran playing in the outfield more often rather than serving as the DH. That would cost Bouchard playing time, though he's almost certain to make the roster, at least a bench bat.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Favorite to start in right field

Bouchard is the top candidate to start in right field for the Rockies to begin the 2024 season, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Brenton Doyle and Nolan Jones will almost certainly account for the majority of at-bats in center and left field, respectively, to begin the season in Colorado. However, there are more significant questions in right field, with Bouchard and Hunter Goodman looking to be the primary options. Saunders suggests that the Rockies desire stability at the position, which could give Bouchard the edge to begin the campaign. In 140 career plate appearances, he's maintained a .432 wOBA, though he's also struck out at a 27.9 percent clip.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Smacks second homer

Bouchard went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Thursday's 14-5 win over the Dodgers.

Bouchard is hitting .226 over 18 games since he was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque when rosters expanded at the start of September. His homer was his second in the majors this year, and he's added five RBI, seven runs scored, one double and a 3:11 BB:K over 18 contests. Bouchard will likely end the season in a part-time role.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Promoted to majors

The Rockies recalled Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Kelsey Wingert-Linch of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports.

Bouchard impressed during his time in the majors last season with a .954 OPS in 97 plate appearances, but he's managed just a .723 OPS at Triple-A in 2023 since recovering from a biceps injury. Bouchard will give the Rockies another option in the outfield, and he could potentially see time in right field while Kris Bryant (finger) is out.

  • Rockies' Sean Bouchard: Activated and optioned

Bouchard (biceps) was activated Monday from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque, Kelsey Wingert-Linch of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports.

Bouchard is recovered from March surgery to repair a ruptured biceps muscle, but he'll remain on the farm for the time being. The 27-year-old is batting .188 with a .569 OPS in 21 plate appearances since he shifted his rehab assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque last week.
