Schneider went 1-for-6 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Pirates. The 25-year-old was having a tough night, striking out three times in his first five trips to the plate -- including in the 10th inning with the potential winning run at third base and one out -- but Schneider redeemed himself when he got hold of a 98.1 mph fastball from Kyle Nicolas in the 14th inning and launched it over the right-field fence. Schneider has scored a run in five straight games, taking advantage of his placement at the top of the order, but he's also been a consistent run producer of late, recording at least one RBI in seven of the last nine games. On the season, Schneider is slashing .245/.354/.470 with seven homers, three steals, 25 runs and 29 RBI in 49 contests.... See More ... See Less

Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Leads with three RBI
Schneider went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one walk, three RBI and one run in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the White Sox. Schneider batted leadoff for the 10th time in 11 games and provided a spark atop the lineup as Toronto took home its second win in a row. Overall, Schneider has posted an .819 OPS in 13 starts as a leadoff man this season, and so long as he continues to excel in that capacity, he should stick as the Blue Jays' table setter even as George Springer is beginning to emerge from his season-long slumber.... Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Gets break Friday
Schneider is not in the lineup for Friday's matchup against Detroit. Schneider will sit for the first time since May 4, as Cavan Biggio gets the start at second base and bats seventh. Schneider is slashing .218/.333/.418 over the last 15 games with two homers, three steals, seven RBI and 10 runs.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Leaves yard Sunday
Schneider went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's loss to the Padres. Schneider went deep off Joe Musgrove in the second inning for this first home run since April 2 and later plated another run in the seventh on a groundout. Sunday's home run was also Schneider's first extra-base hit since April 12, and he's now slashing .227/.292/.477 with three homers, 10 RBI, seven runs and a 3:12 BB:K in 48 plate appearances.... Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Drawing start at second base
Schneider will start at second base and bat fifth in Friday's game against the Yankees. It will be Schneider's first start at the keystone in the early going and just his third start overall. Cavan Biggio is on the bench against a right-hander for the first time. The 25-year-old Schneider has already cranked a pair of home runs in his first nine plate appearances this season.... Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Claims spot on roster
Manager John Schneider said Sunday that Schneider has won a spot on the Blue Jays' Opening Day roster, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Davis Schneider has endured a rough spring training with a .171/.255/.341 slash line through 16 Grapefruit League games, but his ability to play three positions (second base, third base and left field) in addition to notching a 1.007 OPS in his first 141 big-league plate appearances late last season likely factored into the Blue Jays' decision to include him on the 26-man active roster. Despite his success in his first taste of the big leagues, Schneider still appears likely to begin the upcoming season as a short-side platoon player while Cavan Biggio, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Daulton Varsho appear secure as the Blue Jays' projected starters at second base, third base and left field, respectively.... Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Will focus on 2B and LF
Schneider was not initially mentioned by Blue Jays manager John Schneider when asked about the team's second base and third base situation, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. The manager listed Cavan Biggio, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Santiago Espinal as options at those positions, adding that it will be "a cool puzzle to solve." After a reporter followed up in asking about Schneider, the skipper noted that the 25-year-old has been working out in the outfield over the offseason and will focus on playing second base and left field in 2024. This could be an indication that Schneider is not among the favorites to see the lion's share of playing time at second base, although the situation does seem fluid.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Takes seat Wednesday
Schneider is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees. Schneider started the previous 13 games but will receive a day to reset after he posted a .674 OPS and 33.3 percent strikeout rate during that span. Cavan Biggio will man second base while Spencer Horwitz receives a start at first with Vladimir Guerrero serving as the DH.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Crushes eighth homer
Schneider went 2-for-4 with a double and solo home run in Tuesday's loss to Texas. Schneider smashed a 418-foot moonshot off Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning that boasted 104.9 mph exit velocity for his eighth homer of the season. The rookie has garnered 15 starts in the Blue Jays' last 16 games amid a torrid stretch dating back to Aug. 26. In 51 at-bats since then, he has hit .373 with nine doubles, five homers, 16 runs and 14 RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Continues to rack up walks
Schneider went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored Sunday in the Blue Jays' 5-2 win over the Royals. The 24-year-old rookie has only moderately cooled down from his red-hot start to his big-league career with the calendar flipping in September. While starting at second base, third base or designated hitter in eight of the Blue Jays' first nine games of the month, Schneider is slashing .269/.486/.654 with six extra-base hits (one home run, one triple, five doubles), seven runs, five RBI and 10:12 BB:K. He should have a clear path to a near-everyday role while Matt Chapman (finger) is on the injured list, and even once Chapman returns, Schneider may have played well enough to keep getting regular playing time in a super-utility role.... Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Possible waiver wire pickups
Schneider's big-league career began with a nine-hit weekend in early August, earning him a prominent placement in that Monday's Waiver Wire article. But as suddenly as he appeared, he disappeared for the Blue Jays, getting only sporadic opportunities in the weeks that followed. Well, here we are for Round 2. Thanks to an injury for Matt Chapman, Schneider has started five straight games for the Blue Jays and collected nine more hits, going 9 for 17 (.529) with three homers, three doubles, a stolen base and more walks (four) than strikeouts (two). The exit velocities won't blow anyone away, but he was plenty productive at Triple-A as well, slashing .275/.416/.553 with 21 homers in 87 games. There may be no looking back this time, so if you need help at second or third base, Schneider is deserving of your attention.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: On bench for third straight
Schneider is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies. Schneider was a popular waiver-wire pickup after he opened his big-league career with nine hits -- including two home runs -- in his first three games, but he's gone 1-for-12 with seven strikeouts over his subsequent four contests and no longer looks to be in store for steady playing time. He'll be on the bench for a third straight game Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Possible waiver wire pickups
It's true that Schneider wasn't a highly regarded prospect prior to his call-up Friday, but it's also true that he was doing plenty of damage at Triple-A, homering 21 times in just 87 games while reaching base at a .416 clip. His exit velocities were nothing special, so this isn't a player who's oozing with raw talent. But he's one who has learned to maximize what he has, as evidenced by his high fly-ball and pull rates at Triple-A. Pulling the ball in the air is the most surefire way to make up for middling exit velocities, and it helps explain why Davis homered twice in his first three major-league games. But his 9-for-13 start might give you a false impression of his batting average potential given the likelihood of fly-ball outs. A Spencer Steer outcome is on the table here, but it depends on Schneider continuing to produce. Having him at second base forces Whit Merrifield to the outfield, which may not be an everyday solution.... See More ... See Less -

Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Officially promoted to bigs
Toronto selected Schneider's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday. Schneider doesn't have a clear path toward regular playing time with the Blue Jays, but the 28th-round pick from the 2017 MLB Draft has forced his way to the bigs after registering a .969 OPS with 21 home runs and 21 doubles across 87 games this summer at Triple-A. He'll likely operate as a super-utility option at a variety of positions while offering some pop off the bench.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Getting call-up to Jays
Schneider will be called up to the Blue Jays on Friday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Schneider was a 28th-round pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, but he has steadily risen through the Jays' minor-league system and had exploded for a .969 OPS with 21 home runs and nine stolen bases through 87 games this season at Triple-A Buffalo. It's not exactly clear how he might fit into Toronto's lineup, but the 24-year-old has played pretty much every position on the diamond since beginning his professional career. Most of his starts with Buffalo have come at either second base or left field.... See More ... See Less
