Neto went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Mariners. Neto singled and then stole second and third in the seventh inning, but he wasn't brought home. The shortstop had gone 16 games without a stolen base, though he hit a respectable .264 (14-for-53) with seven extra-base hits in that span. For the season, Neto is slashing .254/.305/.413 with eight steals, six home runs, 18 RBI, 20 runs scored and 12 doubles over 203 plate appearances in a starting role.... See More ... See Less

Angels' Zach Neto: Back in lineup Saturday
Neto (elbow) will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Saturday's game against the Guardians. Neto hurt his right elbow on a throw in Wednesday's game against the Astros, forcing his removal from that contest. He sat out Friday's game after the Angels' off day Thursday but is back in there for Saturday's tilt.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: No structural damage in elbow
Neto said Friday that MRI results on his right elbow showed inflammation, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Registerreports. Neto had to exit Wednesday's game against Houston after feeling soreness in his elbow after a throw to first base, though it appears he managed to avoid a significant injury. He will attempt to test his elbow by throwing before Friday's game versus Cleveland, though he has already been left out of the Halos' starting lineup. Kyren Paris will get the nod at shortstop instead while batting ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Set for tests on elbow
Neto will undergo further testing on his right elbow in Los Angeles after exiting in the bottom of the fifth inning of Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Neto went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before he was lifted in the bottom of the fifth inning shortly after he made a high throw from shortstop. The Angels labeled his injury as right elbow soreness, but more clarity on the severity of the injury should be known once his tests are completed. For what it's worth, Neto said the Angels' training staff told him that his injury doesn't appear to be serious.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Battling elbow injury
Neto was removed from Wednesday's game against the Astros in the bottom of the fifth inning due to right elbow soreness. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting the game. Neto uncorked a high throw to first base in the fifth inning which Nolan Schanuel had to leap up to grab. As it turns out, Neto must have tweaked his elbow on the throw. The Angels should have more information on the young shortstop after the game, but he could be at risk of landing on the 10-day injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Leaves with apparent injury
Neto was removed from Wednesday's game against the Astros in the bottom of the fifth inning with an apparent injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Neto made a high throw to first base and was removed from the game shortly therafter. It's not clear what injury Neto might be dealing with, but the Angels should have an update on the shortstop's status soon. Neto went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being lifted.... See More ... Angels' Zach Neto: Belts fourth homer
Neto went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Wednesday's win over the Cardinals. Neto singled in his first at-bat before being thrown out trying to steal second. He would then add a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to extend the Angels' lead to four runs, giving the shortstop his fourth long ball of the season and his second in May. Neto has now hit safely in three straight games and hasn't struck out over that stretch after striking out five times in the previous three contests.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Steals base in loss
Neto went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base Saturday in a loss to Cleveland. Neto plated the only Angels run of the contest with a fifth-inning single. The shortstop followed with a stolen base, but he was left stranded in scoring position. Neto was batting .167 as recently as April 21, but he's turned a corner since, hitting .350 with two homers and six RBI over his past 11 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Belts second homer
Neto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday in a loss to the Phillies. Neto plated the Angels' first run with a 408-foot blast in the third inning. It was his second long ball over his past six games after he failed to go deep in any of his first 23 contests of the campaign. Neto has gotten off to a slow start to 2024, slashing .228/.278/.356 with eight runs, 11 RBI and four steals through 108 plate appearances. His strikeout rate sits at 30.6 percent, a significant increase over his 23.4 percent rate as a rookie last year.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Knocks three hits
Neto went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's loss to Minnesota. Neto doubled and scored in the sixth inning and later added an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. After producing just two multi-hit efforts through his first 21 games, the second-year shortstop has collected multiple hits in three of his last four games. He still has plenty of work to do, but his season OPS has jumped from .449 to .646 during this recent hot streak.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Productive at plate
Neto went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Orioles. Neto now has two hits in back-to-back games and has notched an extra-base hit in both games as well. Prior to this mini outburst, Neto was slashing .167/.241/.208 with just three doubles, six RBI, four runs and a 6:25 BB:K in 78 plate appearances. He's now raised his average to .205 as he looks to continue to pick up steam at the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Takes seat Saturday
Neto isn't in the Angels' lineup for Saturday's game against Cincinnati, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Neto went hitless in three at-bats and struck out twice during a loss in the series opener Friday, bringing him down to a .495 OPS through 72 plate appearances. He'll give way to Luis Rengifo, who will bat seventh Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Returning to action
Neto (illness) is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff in Friday's Cactus League game against the Mariners, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The 23-year-old is expected to bat ninth for the Angels this season, but he'll hit atop the lineup Friday after sitting out the past two days with an illness. Neto struggled offensively as a rookie last season with a .225/.308/.377 slash line in 84 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Recovering from flu
Neto is out of the lineup for Thursday's spring game against the White Sox and has been unavailable recently due to the flu, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Registerreports. Neto will miss a second straight Cactus League start Thursday, but he's feeling better and was able to go through a pregame workout. It sounds like he should be ready to return to action in a day or two. Luis Rengifo will handle shortstop again while Neto rests.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Not starting Saturday
Neto isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday against Minnesota, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Neto is slashing just .122/.217/.220 across his last 10 games, so he'll get a day off to regroup after striking out three times Friday. David Fletcher will take over at shortstop and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Not starting Sunday
Neto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. Neto is 1-for-20 with three walks, a run and eight strikeouts since being activated from the injured list last weekend, so he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale. David Fletcher will work at shortstop and bat second.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Rehab assignment Tuesday
Neto (back) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Salt Lake, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Neto will need a brief rehab assignment, as he has been out since Aug. 3 with the back injury, but it's possible he will be back later this week. Once activated, he should assume the everyday shortstop duties, at which point Kyren Paris may head back to the minor leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Approaching rehab assignment
Angels manager Phil Nevin said Friday that Neto (back) hasn't experienced any setbacks since going on the injured list and is expected to begin a rehab stint during the week of Sept. 5, MLB.com reports. Neto has been on the shelf since Aug. 4 after dealing with back trouble for several weeks. He's progressed to participating in all on-field activities except hitting during warmups, though he's been taking swings in an indoor batting cage. Nevin indicated that Neto is pain-free, and as long as his upcoming rehab assignment goes off without a hitch, the rookie shortstop should be able to return to the major-league club in time to log several more weeks of action before the end of the regular season.... Angels' Zach Neto: Likely out several weeks
Angels manager Phil Nevin said Tuesday that Neto (back) will be out for several weeks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Neto was placed on the 10-day injured list last Friday due to lower-back discomfort and further testing has revealed a bad case of inflammation. Luis Rengifo will continue to serve as the Angels' primary shortstop in his absence, which is now expected to extend through at least mid-September.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Zach Neto: Remains out Saturday
Neto (back) isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday against Toronto, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
