  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Slated to undergo surgery

Beck is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left hand Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Beck suffered a broken fourth metacarpal in his left hand Saturday, and he will need to go under the knife to repair the fracture. A return timetable has not been offered up by the team, but Beck is expected to miss extended time as a result of the injury. While his big-league career hasn't gotten off to a great start, Beck has positioned himself among the team's top prospects with his performance at the upper levels of the minors. He should get another long look when healthy.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Lands on IL with fractured hand

The Rockies placed Beck (hand) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Beck sustained the injury while making a diving catch in the outfield in the first inning of Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Phillies. He could be in store for a lengthy absence, regardless of whether or not surgery is required. Beck was slashing .173/.182/.307 with two home runs and eight RBI while striking out 29 times across 89 plate appearances since he received his first call to the big leagues April 30. Colorado recalled Sean Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque to take Beck's spot on the 26-man active roster.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Diagnosed with fractured hand

Beck has been diagnosed with a fractured left hand, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Beck made a terrific diving catch in left field to rob Nick Castellanos of a hit in the first inning of Saturday's loss to the Phillies, but he suffered a significant injury on the play. It's not clear at this point whether he will need surgery or how long he might be sidelined, but certainly Beck is headed to the injured list. Beck has slashed just .190/.198/.316 with a 30:1 K:BB in his first 23 games with the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Chance to keep playing time

Beck went 0-for-4 with a stolen base Tuesday against the Athletics.

Beck has been a regular starter since being promoted April 30, though it appeared that his playing time would be squeezed with the returns of Kris Bryant and Nolan Jones (back/knee). However, Jones suffered a setback on his rehab assignment and Sean Bouchard was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room for Bryant to be activated. That keeps the door open for Beck to maintain regular playing time, though he has just a .212/.212/.348 line across his first 66 plate appearances in the majors.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Homers in consecutive games

Beck went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-5 loss to the Giants.

Beck has now homered in back-to-back games, and he's gone 8-for-23 (.348) during a six-game hitting streak. The outfield prospect was known for his power in the minors, but it took a little time for him to click in the majors. He's now hitting .236 with two homers, seven RBI, four runs scored, a stolen base and two doubles over 55 plate appearances. Beck may be running out of time to make an impression with the Rockies, as Nolan Jones (back) started a rehab assignment Wednesday and could return soon.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Belts first big-league long ball

Beck went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and five total RBI in an 8-0 win against the Padres on Wednesday.

Beck came into Wednesday batting .191 with a 42.6 percent strikeout rate, but he was showing signs of breaking out with a four-game hitting streak while recording his first career RBI in his most recent contest. The 23-year-old may have announced his arrival with Wednesday's huge performance, during which he finished a triple short of a cycle. Beck doubled home two runs in the second inning, swatted a two-run homer in the sixth and added an RBI single in the eighth. The homer was his first as a major leaguer, though he's flashed plenty of power in the minors, racking up 33 long balls across 177 contests since being drafted in 2022.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Nabs steal in win

Beck went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Beck has received steady playing time while Nolan Jones (back) is on the injured list. It hasn't translated to much success yet -- Beck is batting .179 with 17 strikeouts and no walks over his first 39 major-league plate appearances. His steal Sunday was the first of his career. The 23-year-old outfielder still has power upside, but he'll need to start making contact more consistently before that upside can turn into results.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Taking seat Friday

Beck is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Rangers.

Beck was given nine straight starts in left field upon his promotion from Triple-A Albuquerque, but he's gone just 5-for-32 (.156) with a 14:0 K:BB in those games, so the Rockies will give him a day to regroup. Jake Cave is in left field Friday. With Nolan Jones (back) beginning to ramp up his activity level, Beck is running out of time to demonstrate he's ready for a regular spot in the majors.
