  • Twins' Tanner Morris: Elects to retire

Morris was placed on the voluntary retired list by Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

The right-hander was acquired from the Blue Jays in early April but opted to retire after going 6-for-45 through 14 games with St. Paul. Morris broke through to the Triple-A level in 2022 but was unable to make his way to the big leagues.

  • Twins' Jair Camargo: Out with forearm injury

Camargo was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

Camargo last saw the field for St. Paul on Saturday, when he went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and a run scored. The severity of the forearm strain isn't known, so it's unclear how long the 24-year-old will be sidelined beyond the seven-day minimum.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Three hits, steal in win

Castro went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the White Sox.

Castro wound up a homer shy of a cycle Wednesday while recording his fifth multi-hit game during his current eight-game hitting streak. He's gone 16-for-35 (.457) over the course of the streak, boosting his slash line to .270/.339/.450 through 30 games this year. The 27-year-old Castro added two homers, 13 runs scored, 12 RBI and three stolen bases while serving as the Twins' primary third baseman in the absence of Royce Lewis (quadriceps).

  • Twins' Bailey Ober: Wins third straight

Ober (3-1) earned the win Wednesday over the White Sox, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out three over six innings.

After allowing two runs in the opening frame, Ober settled in to hold Chicago to just two more runs over his final five innings en route to a third consecutive winning decision. The four runs were the most Ober's allowed since he was tagged for eight runs in his first start of the year against Kansas City -- he'd held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his subsequent four outings. Overall, the 28-year-old right-hander sports a 4.55 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP and 28:7 K:BB through 31.2 innings this season. Ober's currently slated for a home matchup with the Mariners in his next turn.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Getting MRI on knee

Buxton will receive an MRI on his right knee after being removed from Wednesday's game versus the White Sox, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Buxton hurt his knee while attempting to steal a base during the second inning of Wednesday's victory. The Twins didn't have an update on his status immediately after the game, but manager Rocco Baldelli said Buxton would receive an MRI and that the team would use its day off Thursday to assess the situation. A clearer picture regarding the 30-year-old's return timeline will likely come prior to Friday's game against Boston.

  • Twins' Emmanuel Rodriguez: Back in action Wednesday

Rodriguez (hand) will start in center field and bat leadoff Wednesday for Double-A Wichita in its matchup with Northwest Arkansas.

Rodriguez is back in action after he hadn't played since April 24 due to the hand injury he sustained while sliding into second base on a stolen-base attempt in a game against San Antonio. The 21-year-old outfielder had gotten off to a strong start to the season for Wichita before suffering the injury, slashing .294/.507/.686 with four home runs and nine stolen bases in 73 plate appearances.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Dealing with knee injury

Buxton was removed in the second inning of Wednesday's game against the White Sox was due to right knee soreness, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Buxton tweaked his knee on a stolen-base attempt in the top of the second inning and was removed in the bottom half of the frame. The injury is to the same knee in which he underwent surgery twice, with the most recent operation occurring last October. It's not clear at this point how big of a setback Buxton might be dealing with, but the Twins could offer more detail on his condition after the game.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Exits with apparent leg injury

Buxton was removed from Wednesday's game against the White Sox in the bottom of the second inning with an apparent leg injury, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

After reaching on a base hit in his first plate appearance of the day in the top of the second inning, Buxton attempted a steal of second base but came up lame and walked off the field gingerly after being tagged out. The Twins should have more clarity on the nature of Buxton's injury later Wednesday.

  • Twins' Kody Funderburk: Sent back to minors

The Twins optioned Funderburk to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Funderburk worked two innings in Tuesday's win over the White Sox, allowing a pair of runs. Since he wasn't going to be available for Wednesday's series finale in Chicago, Funderburk will head back to Triple-A while the Twins bring aboard right-hander Caleb Boushley from St. Paul to serve as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen.

  • Twins' Caleb Boushley: Added to big-league roster

The Twins selected Boushley's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Boushley has pitched well in St. Paul's rotation this season, collecting a 4.00 ERA and 30:4 K:BB across 27 innings. The 30-year-old will offer the Twins some length in their bullpen in the short term.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Returns to bench role

Farmer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Farmer will hit the bench for Wednesday's series finale after he had started in each of the last five games (three at second base, two at third base). The platoon-happy Twins should continue to find room for the righty-hitting Farmer in the lineup when southpaws are on the mound for the opposition, but Farmer's opportunities at third base will likely become more scarce moving forward. Carlos Correa returned from the 10-day injured list Monday to take back an everyday role at shortstop, and Edouard Julien and Willi Castro look first in line to start at second and third base, respectively, when the Twins oppose righties.

  • Twins' Jose Miranda: On bench in second straight

Miranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Miranda and Kyle Farmer had recently been part of a timeshare at third base, but both could see their playing time against right-handed pitching take a hit moving forward after shortstop Carlos Correa (intercostal) was reinstated from the injured list Monday. With Correa back in the fold, Willi Castro -- who had been serving as the primary shortstop while Correa was on the shelf -- could end up seeing the bulk of the starts at the hot corner until Royce Lewis (quadricep) is ready to return from the 10-day IL.

  • Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Sitting out Wednesday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the White Sox.

Jeffers had started each of the last seven contests (four at designated hitter and three at catcher) but will get some rest Wednesday. Christian Vazquez will catch for starting pitcher Bailey Ober as the Twins attempt to win their 10th straight game.

  • Twins' Jhoan Duran: Collects save in season debut

Duran gave up one hit and struck out a batter during a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save during Tuesday's 6-5 win over the White Sox.

In his first appearance since being reinstated from the injured list, Duran picked up right where he left off last season. He allowed a leadoff single to Tommy Pham before retiring the next three batters, ending the game with a four-pitch strikeout of Andrew Vaughn. It wasn't clear heading into Tuesday's game whether or not Duran would immediately slide back into the closer role after missing the first month of the season, but it appears manager Rocco Baldelli will trust the 26-year-old righty to work the ninth inning going forward.

  • Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson: Gives up seven hits

Woods Richardson came away with a no-decision Tuesday against the White Sox, giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two batters across 3.2 innings.

Woods Richardson was fortunate to only surrender two runs Tuesday after allowing nine men to reach base in less than four innings, but an Eloy Jimenez RBI single and a fielding error from Carlos Santana still put the Twins in a 2-0 hole to begin the game. Woods Richardson now carries a 2.45 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 14.2 innings through three starts, and he will likely get a chance to improve upon his shortest outing of the season Monday against the Mariners.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Buxton is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

Buxton has an .820 OPS and 30.8 percent strikeout rate over his past 10 games and will take a seat Tuesday after starting the previous two contests. Willi Castro will shift to center field while Kyle Farmer receives the start at third base.

  • Twins' Griffin Jax: Duran returns from IL

Jax will likely shift into a setup role since the Twins reinstated Jhoan Duran (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Jax pitched well as the fill-in closer to begin the season with four saves, a 2.25 ERA and 17:4 K:BB across 12 innings, but it appears his time in the role is now up. The right-hander should still see plenty of high-leverage opportunities as a setup man, but his fantasy utility will likely be minimal while Duran is healthy.
