Left-hander Erik Miller is slated to open the game for the Giants, but he's unlikely to work more than an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Jefferies is expected to cover the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen as he makes his first appearance for the Giants since giving up five earned runs over two innings in a spot start back on March 31 in San Diego. Estrada reached on an error and recorded his first steal of the year to get into scoring position, though he was left on base. Considering he logged a combined 44 steals over the previous two seasons, it's unusual that he's been less active on the basepaths. It doesn't help that he's batting just .229 with a .248 on-base percentage for the year, though those numbers improve to .291 and .316, respectively, over the last 16 games. Estrada is still seeing a starting role at second base despite the early struggles, while Tyler Fitzgerald remains in more of a bench role.

Giants' Logan Webb: Stumbles in Boston

Webb (3-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on nine hits and three walks over 3.2 innings as the Giants fell 4-0 to the Red Sox. He struck out four.
After four straight starts in which he lasted at least seven innings and allowed two runs or less, Webb struggled to put away hitters and generated only four swinging strikes among his 91 pitches. Despite the stumble, the 27-year-old right-hander still sports a 2.98 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB through 42.1 innings, and he's served up just one homer so far in 2024. Webb faces a tough challenge in his next scheduled start, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Philadelphia.
Snell (thigh) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Snell landed on the shelf last week with a Grade 2 adductor strain, but he wasn't shut down from throwing for long. The Giants have yet to announce their scheduled starter for Wednesday, but Jefferies was spotted in the clubhouse at Fenway Park on Tuesday. Jefferies is in line to start in place of Blake Snell (intercostal) and could earn additional starts with Snell expected to be on the 15-day injured list for a while. Jefferies was torched for nine runs (five earned) over two innings in a spot start earlier this season but owns a 3.44 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 17:5 K:BB over 18.1 innings across four outings (two starts) with Sacramento.
Fitzgerald went 3-for-3 with a double and one run scored in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Pirates.
Fitzgerald has recorded three multi-hit games this season, and he's batting .313 with a .915 OPS over 34 plate appearances. He remains in a utility role, but he's done well when in the lineup, posting one home run, three RBI, six runs scored, two doubles, a triple and four stolen bases. Fitzgerald's lack of an everyday role limits his fantasy viability, and his best chance at playing time is at shortstop, though Nick Ahmed has held his own there by batting .262 over 27 contests. Fitzgerald has also played in center field occasionally versus southpaws when Jung Hoo Lee is out of the lineup, though that has not been a strict platoon situation.

Estrada opened the scoring when he took Jared Jones deep in the third inning. Estrada has gone 2-for-7 over two games since he recovered from a minor hamstring issue. The second baseman is slashing a modest .235/.255/.422 with four homers, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored and no stolen bases through 28 contests. His power is in line with previous years, but Estrada logged 20-plus steals in both 2022 and 2023, so it's a little unusual to see him getting less involved on the basepaths.

Doval has converted all five of his save chances while registering a 3.38 ERA through 10.2 frames. Sunday was his first save since April 23 against the Mets.
