Avalanche's Zach Parise: Slides assist in win
Parise notched an assist and two hits in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Parise snapped a six-game point drought with the helper on a Casey Mittelstadt tally in the third period. The 39-year-old Parise continues to play a limited role -- he hasn't exceeded 15 minutes of ice time in any of the last seven games, and he's done so just twice in 10 playoff outings. He has three points, 18 shots on net, 27 hits and an even plus-minus rating in a middle-six capacity.

Avalanche's Josh Manson: Garners helper in win
Manson provided an assist, five shots on goal and eight hits in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Manson's offense has slowed in the second round -- he has two helpers across five games against the Stars after racking up two goals and three assists over five contests versus the Jets in the first round. The 32-year-old defenseman continues to occupy a top-four role for the Avalanche, providing solid defense in addition to his surprising offense. Through 10 playoff appearances, he has 23 shots on net, 35 hits, 19 blocked shots, 10 PIM and a plus-8 rating.

Avalanche's Samuel Girard: Pockets assist in win
Girard logged an assist in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Girard helped out on Casey Mittelstadt's go-ahead goal early in the third period. The helper was Girard's third in eight playoff appearances, and he hasn't scored a goal this postseason. The defenseman has added a modest eight shots on net, 20 blocked shots, 10 hits and a plus-4 rating while skating in a second-pairing role since he recovered from a concussion that cost him four contests in mid-April.

Avalanche's Jonathan Drouin: Registers power-play assist
Drouin notched a power-play assist, four hits and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Drouin has a helper in each of his first two playoff contests this year. He was moved up to the top line Wednesday, though his helper was a primary assist on the first of Cale Makar's two goals in the game. Drouin should continue to see significant minutes as the Avalanche once again try to fend off elimination in Game 6 on Friday.

Avalanche's Mikko Rantanen: Helps out on power play
Rantanen logged a power-play assist, three shots on goal and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Rantanen helped out on a Cale Makar tally late in the second period, which tied the game at 2-2. After posting one goal over the Avalanche's previous three contests, head coach Jared Bednar moved Rantanen down to the second line at even strength, a switch that could negatively impact the winger's offense. He's at 13 points (four on the power play) with 27 shots on net, 19 hits, 12 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 10 playoff appearances.

Avalanche's Casey Mittelstadt: Nets go-ahead goal
Mittelstadt scored a goal in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Mittelstadt put the Avalanche ahead for the first time in regulation in this series with his goal at 1:12 of the third period. The center has scored in back-to-back games and has three points over five second-round contests. For the playoffs, he's racked up three goals, six assists, 21 shots on net, 13 hits and a plus-1 rating over 10 appearances in a second-line role.

Avalanche's Artturi Lehkonen: Pair of points in Game 5 win
Lehkonen scored a power-play goal on two shots, added an assist, logged two PIM, doled out three hits and blocked two shots in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
This was Lehkonen's first multi-point effort since Game 4 of the first round. He tallied at the end of the first period and then set up a Nathan MacKinnon insurance marker in the third. Lehkonen is up to six goals, five assists, three power-play points, 32 shots on net, 23 hits and a minus-1 rating through 10 playoff contest. Lehkonen played on the top line Wednesday and could have a chance to stick there moving forward since Valeri Nichushkin (suspension) won't return during the postseason.

Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: One of each in win
MacKinnon scored a goal on two shots and added a power-play assist in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
MacKinnon and Artturi Lehkonen set up each other's goals in the contest. The marker was MacKinnon's first since Game 1 of the second round, though he's still managed five points over as many contests in the series. He's at four goals, 10 helpers, 40 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating through 10 playoff appearances.

Makar scored two goals on five shots in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Makar tallied on a power play late in the second period and scored again at even strength in the third. His second goal was the game-winner. Makar has been held off the scoresheet in the Avalanche's three losses in the second round, but he's earned five points in their two wins. The defenseman is up to five goals, 14 points (seven on the power play), 34 shots on net, 20 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 10 playoff outings.

Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Grabs win Wednesday
Georgiev stopped 23 of 26 shots in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Georgiev didn't have a lead to work with until Casey Mittelstadt put the Avalanche up 3-2 in the third period. Cale Makar tallied shortly after that, and Georgiev was able to guide the Avalanche to the win, keeping their season alive and forcing a Game 6 on Friday. The 28-year-old goalie is 6-4 over 10 playoff appearances, but he's given up 31 goals, including at least three markers in four of the five contests so far in the second round.

Avalanche's Yakov Trenin: Dealing with upper-body injury
Trenin is being evaluated for an upper-body injury after exiting Wednesday's Game 5 versus the Stars in the first period, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.
Trenin exited midway through the first period, and it appears unlikely he'll be able to return to the game. If the Avalanche lose Wednesday, the injury will end his season, though it's unclear if he'll be available for Friday's Game 6 should the Avalanche win.

Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Tending twine in Game 5
Georgiev will protect the road goal versus the Stars in Wednesday's Game 5, Tracey Myers of NHL.com reports.
Georgiev has lost three straight games, allowing 10 goals on 85 shots in that span. Despite the slump, head coach Jared Bednar is sticking by his No. 1 goalie with the Avalanche's season on the line Wednesday. If Georgiev can pick up a win, the series will shift back to Colorado for Game 6 on Friday.

Toews' return to the lineup should bolster the Avs' offensive options considering he has generated six points through eight postseason contests. Caleb Jones figures to be dropped from the lineup due to Toews' return. In addition to pairing with Cale Makar, the 30-year-old Toews will probably link up with the No. 2 power-play unit.

Drouin made his postseason debut Monday after recovering from a lower-body injury and helped out on Casey Mittelstadt's second-period tally. The 29-year-old Drouin added one shot on net and saw 19:12 of ice time, including 2:27 on the power play. With Valeri Nichushkin (suspension) done for the playoffs, Drouin could get shifted up to the top line for Wednesday's Game 5, which will see the Avalanche attempt to stave off elimination.

The Avalanche's offense has been lacking both in volume and depth in this series, so Mittelstadt is far from the only player that needs to find another level with the team's season on the line going forward.
