  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Extends goal streak in loss

Lafreniere scored a goal in the final minute of Thursday's 3-2 loss versus Florida in Game 5.

Lafreniere gave the Rangers life in the final minute of the third period to cut Florida's lead to one, but it wasn't enough to fuel a late comeback. Lafreniere moved into a three-way tie for the team lead in playoff goals with Chris Kreider and Vincent Trocheck. Lafreniere's eighth marker of the postseason Thursday also extended his goal streak to three games, and he has four tallies in that span. Lafreniere has come to develop a prowess for goal scoring during the postseason, but he hasn't registered an assist in seven consecutive contests. The 22-year-old is up to eight goals and 14 points with a plus-1 rating in 15 postseason appearances.

  • Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Two apples in loss

Zibanejad had two primary assists in Thursday's 3-2 loss against the Panthers in Game 5.

Zibanejad's two helpers in Thursday's loss moved him past teammate Vincent Trocheck for the team lead in assists during the postseason. Surprisingly, it was Zibanejad's first two points of the series after logging 14 points in 10 games throughout the first two rounds. The 31-year-old center did not record a shot on goal Thursday, but he had a plus-1 rating in 24:03 of ice time, the most of any Ranger. In 15 playoff contests to this point, Zibanejad has 16 points and a team-leading 13 assists with an even plus-minus rating.

  • Rangers' Chris Kreider: One and one in loss

Kreider scored a shorthanded goal and added a helper in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Florida in Game 5.

Kreider registered his first points of the series in Thursday's home loss. The 33-year-old has cooled down significantly after recording 10 points in as many games across the first two rounds of the postseason. In addition to the multi-point effort in Game 5, Kreider had four shots on goal, four hits and a plus-1 rating in 22:04 of ice time. New York will need Kreider at the top of his game if they want to avoid elimination in Game 6 on Saturday. The first-line winger is tied for the team lead in goals during the postseason with eight. He's also added four assists and a minus-4 rating in 15 outings.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Facing elimination after loss

Shesterkin turned aside 34 of 36 shots on goal in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 5.

Shesterkin had another great performance in Thursday's loss, but he wasn't able to steal the win for New York. It's his second consecutive loss after wins in Game 2 and Game 3 of the series. Shesterkin lost consecutive games one other time this postseason against Carolina, and a win followed in that instance. The Rangers will need that trend to continue as they look to stave off elimination in Game 6 on Saturday night in Florida. Overall this postseason, Shesterkin has a record of 10-5 with a 2.36 GAA and a .927 save percentage.

Shesterkin will patrol the home crease versus Florida on Thursday, per Dan Rosen of NHL.com.

Shesterkin has been outstanding versus the Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals, turning aside 120 of 130 shots (.923 save percentage). Shesterkin has been especially strong at home against Florida, allowing only three goals on 53 shots in the opening pair of games. He is 10-4 overall, with a 2.37 GAA in 14 playoff appearances in 2024.

  • Rangers' Blake Wheeler: Returns to lineup Tuesday

Wheeler was back in action for Game 4 against the Panthers on Tuesday, recording four hits, two blocks and two PIM in 9:18 of ice time.

Wheeler was in the lineup for the first time since Feb. 15 versus Montreal, a stretch of 41 games on the shelf due to his leg injury. Even with the veteran cleared to play, he may still have to serve as a healthy scratch periodically as he eases his way back to 100 percent, perhaps including Game 5 against Florida on Thursday.

  • Rangers' Vincent Trocheck: Nets power-play goal

Trocheck contributed a power-play goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to Florida in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Trocheck opened the scoring at 8:51 of the first period, extending his scoring streak to three games. He has two goals and five points over that stretch, bringing him up to eight markers and 19 points through 14 playoff contests this year. He's been particularly effective with the man advantage, supplying nine postseason points on the power play.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Supplies goal in loss

Lafreniere netted a goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to Florida in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Lafreniere's marker came early in the third period to tie the contest at 2-2. He's on a roll with three goals over his past two contests, bringing him up to seven tallies and 13 points through 14 playoff outings this year. His superb play in the postseason follows a strong 2023-24 campaign in which he set career highs with 28 goals and 57 points across 82 regular-season appearances.

  • Rangers' Adam Fox: Gets two helpers in Game 4

Fox registered two assists in a 3-2 overtime loss to Florida in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Fox went through a quiet stretch from May 9-26 in which he registered just one assist over seven outings. It's rare for him to have an extended period where he's not contributing much offensively. The 26-year-old has surpassed the 70-point milestone in each of his past three campaigns, finishing the 2023-24 regular season with 17 goals and 73 points across 72 contests. It wouldn't be surprising to see Fox build off his strong performance Tuesday and start factoring in on the scoresheet with some regularity.

  • Rangers' Artemi Panarin: Records two helpers in Game 4

Panarin registered a pair of assists, including one with the man advantage, in Game 4 against the Panthers on Tuesday.

Despite his two-point effort, Panarin remains mired in a seven-game goal drought during which he has recorded just 14 shots. Still, the 32-year-old winger continues to find ways to produce, though his effort Tuesday wasn't enough to help secure a victory for New York. If the Rangers are going to make the Stanley Cup Finals, they will likely need Panarin to start finding the back of the net.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Otherwordly performance in loss

Shesterkin turned aside 37 of 40 shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 4.

Shesterkin was excellent in Tuesday's loss, but he couldn't carry New York to a two-game series lead. He was beaten on a perfect shot in overtime by Florida's Sam Reinhart after New York had a defensive breakdown leading up to the goal. Shesterkin has been busy during the postseason -- he's faced at least 25 shots on goal in 13 of 14 of his playoff appearances this year. The 28-year-old has also seen more rubber in each subsequent game of this series, although the last three contests have gone to overtime. So far this postseason, Shesterkin is 10-4 with a 2.33 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Starting in Game 4

Shesterkin is set to start on the road versus the Panthers in Game 4 on Tuesday, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.

Shesterkin has won his last two contests after dropping Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. He's now 10-3 with a 2.33 GAA and a .923 save percentage through 13 playoff outings. A win for Shesterkin and the Rangers on Tuesday would put them one victory away from making the Stanley Cup Finals.

  • Rangers' Will Cuylle: Garners helper in win

Cuylle logged an assist and two hits in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over the Panthers in Game 3.

Cuylle snapped a four-game point drought with the helper. The 22-year-old has seen a limited role in the Rangers' bottom six this postseason, picking up two points, 17 shots on net, 39 hits and a plus-3 rating over 13 playoff appearances. He's got a steady spot in the lineup, but Cuylle shouldn't be counted on for significant offense.

  • Rangers' Braden Schneider: Hands out helper Sunday

Schneider recorded an assist, four hits, six blocked shots and two PIM in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over the Panthers in Game 3.

Schneider set up the first of Barclay Goodrow's two goals in the game. This was Schneider's second point (both assists) this postseason. The 22-year-old blueliner has been a fixture on the Rangers' third pairing, adding 28 hits, 27 blocks, 12 shots on net, 16 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 13 playoff appearances.
