Rodgers went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers. Rodgers has hit safely in seven straight games, and four of those have been multi-hit performances. He's gone 11-for-27 (.407) in that span, but he's also logged just one extra-base hit, a double, during the streak. Rodgers had a mostly inconsistent start to the campaign, but he's up to a decent .268/.316/.354 slash line with one home run, eight RBI, 14 runs scored, six doubles and a triple through 36 contests. It's not a great line, but the second baseman could still find his power again with his home games at hitter-friendly Coors Field, though he's also sporting a 25.0 percent strikeout rate, his highest in four years.... Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Showing improvement
Rodgers went 1-for-4 with a run scored Thursday against the Giants. Rodgers played his part in a seven-run fourth inning for Colorado by reaching base on a single and coming around to score. It was an otherwise unremarkable game, but he has at least one hit in 11 of his last 13 starts and has hit .313 (15-for-48) with a homer, five RBI and six runs scored in that span. Rodgers still has a poor .632 OPS for the season, but he is showing signs of life at the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Out of lineup Sunday
Rodgers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros in Mexico City. Rodgers will hit the bench for the series finale after he had started in each of the Rockies' last seven games while going 7-for-24 with a home run, four walks, four RBI and two runs. Alan Trejo will cover the keystone Sunday while Rodgers sits.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Launches grand slam in win
Rodgers went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in the Rockies 7-4 win over the Padres on Tuesday. Rodgers stepped up to the plate in the fourth with the bases juiced and sent a 421-foot blast to left-center field to put the Rockies in front 5-4 and they would never look back. It was his first career grand slam, his first RBI since April 13 and his first extra-base hit since April 12. It's been a rough go at the plate early on for the 27-year-old, as he's slashing just .197/.230/.324 with seven RBI, nine runs and a 3:20 BB:K in 74 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Back in the starting lineup
Rodgers (illness) is starting at second base and hitting sixth in the Rockies' first game of their doubleheader against the Mariners on Sunday. Rodgers has been out of the starting lineup for each of Colorado's last four games due to an illness, though he did appear as a pinch runner Wednesday against the Phillies. Rodgers is slashing .211/.237/.316 with four doubles, one triple and three RBI over 59 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Appears as pinch runner
Rodgers (illness) appeared as a pinch runner Wednesday against the Phillies. Rodgers has been out of the lineup for three games with an illness, but he entered Wednesday's contest in the eighth inning. There hasn't been official word from the club, but his appearance was a positive sign for his availability Friday.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Out again Wednesday with illness
Rodgers (illness) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Philadelphia. Rodgers will miss a third straight start due to illness. He should be ready to play in Friday's series opener against the Mariners following Thursday's team off day. Alan Trejo will make another start at the keystone in Rodgers' place Wednesday.... Rodgers (illness) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Philadelphia. Rodgers was a late scratch from Monday's lineup due to illness and still isn't feeling up to playing. Alan Trejo will again filling in at second base for the Rockies. Trejo went 1-for-3 at the plate in Monday's loss to the Phillies.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Sits Monday with illness
Rodgers was scratched from the lineup ahead of Monday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Phillies due to an illness, MLB.com reports. An explanation behind Rodgers' late scratch wasn't immediately provided leading up to the opening pitch, but the Rockies later relayed that the 27-year-old took part in a pregame workout and was held out after feeling under the weather. Alan Trejo picked up the start at second base in Rodgers' stead, going 1-for-3 at the dish.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Scratched from lineup
Rodgers was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies. The reasoning for Rodgers' removal from the Rockies' lineup is not yet clear. Alan Trejo replaced him at second base and will bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Production picking up
Rodgers went 1-for-4 with two RBI on Saturday against the Blue Jays. Rodgers' performance was far from perfect, as he also struck out three times. However, with his timely two-RBI knock in the sixth inning, he extended his hitting streak to three games while also tallying at least one hit in four of his last five contests. Though there's been some positive of late for Rodgers, he still has a poor .222/.250/.333 line across 56 plate appearances to begin the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Gets Sunday off
Rodgers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays. Alan Trejo will pick up the start at second base while Rodgers rests for the second time in the Rockies' first 10 games of the season. Over 35 plate appearances to date, Rodgers is hitting .147 with no extra-base hits, no stolen bases, no RBI and four runs.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Productive at home
Rodgers went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored Friday against the Rays. Rodgers went just 3-for-25 in the Rockies' seaosn-opening road trip while striking out at a 28.0 percent clip. He fared better at hitter-friendly Coors Field on Friday, and his performance was highlighted by a double in the first inning. That marked Rodgers' second extra-base hit of the season, though he'll have the chance to add to that total in the remaining five games of the current homestand.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Taking seat Wednesday
Rodgers is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. He's being given a day of rest as Alan Trejo handles second base. Rodgers has had a rough start to the season, going 3-for-25 with a 7:0 K:BB.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Set to bat cleanup
Rodgers will bat cleanup for the Rockies to begin the 2024 season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Rodgers was limited by a shoulder injury for much of the 2023 season, and he managed just a .701 OPS across 192 plate appearances. Now fully healthy, the Rockies are hoping he'll be in for the breakout season his prospect pedigree seemed to promise. While Rodgers doesn't have the prototypical power of a cleanup hitter -- he has a career .146 ISO -- he makes relatively consistent contact, which should make him productive with runners in scoring position.... Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Avoids arbitration with Rockies
The Rockies and Rodgers avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.2 million contract Thursday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. Rodgers was in his second year of arbitration eligibility. The second baseman missed a large chunk of the 2023 season following shoulder surgery, but he finished strong and will be looking to build off that heading into the 2024 campaign.... See More ... Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Finding power to end season
Rodgers went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Friday against the Twins. Rodgers led off the fifth inning with his fourth home run of the season, each of which has come in his last nine games. He's been limited to only 44 games after suffering a shoulder injury during spring training, though he's ultimately delivered a slash line remarkably similar to his 2022 campaign. Most importantly, Rodgers appears to be proving healthy before heading into the offseason.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Belts third homer
Rodgers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday. Rodgers brought the Rockies to within 4-2 with his solo blast in the sixth inning, but that was the final run the team was able to muster. The long ball was his third of the campaign, all of which have come over his past seven games. Rodgers is slashing .310/.333/.690 over that stretch as he puts together a strong end to a mostly lost season -- he didn't play until late July due to a shoulder injury he suffered during spring training.... Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Goes deep in loss
Rodgers went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's loss to the Cubs. Rodgers took Jordan Wicks deep to center in the third to get the Rockies on the board. It was just his second home run since returning from the injured at the end of July, and he's now sporting a slash line of .359/.419/.538 with six RBI, five runs and a 3:5 BB:K over his last 10 games.... Rodgers went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Padres. In his 36th game, Rodgers finally hit his first homer of the season, driving a Seth Lugo fastball over the left-center field fence in the first inning. The 27-year-old infielder has hit safely in seven straight games, going 12-for-27 (.444) with a double, four runs and four RBI, and with the Rockies finishing their campaign with a seven-game homestand next week, Rodgers could be able to keep his hot streak going....
