Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Phillips (hamstring) is on track for activation from the 15-day injured list Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Phillips struck out two batters in a perfect inning in his first rehab appearance with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday. He's slated for one rehab outing before rejoining the Dodgers for their weekend series at home against the Rockies, assuming all goes well. Upon activation, Phillips should immediately step back in as the Dodgers' closer.... See More ... See Less

Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Tosses clean rehab inning
Phillips (hamstring) retired all three batters he faced -- including two by strikeout -- in a rehab outing with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday. Phillips needed just 11 pitches to get through the frame. The appearance was the first for the closer since he went on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain May 5. Phillips will likely get in one or two more rehab outings before he's deemed ready to return to closing duties with the Dodgers.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Beginning rehab assignment
Phillips (hamstring) is scheduled to pitch in a rehab game Sunday with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. Phillips will require multiple rehab outings before coming off the 15-day injured list, and Sunday's scheduled appearance will mark the first of these. Daniel Hudson recorded the last Dodgers save May 20, and Phillips will presumably return to the closing role once he's active.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Will require several rehab outings
Phillips (hamstring) is expected to make 2-to-3 rehab appearances before being activated from the 15-day injured list, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Stephen estimates that Phillips is about a week away from a return, though how the right-hander fares during his rehab outings will ultimately dictate his exact return date. He's been shut down since May 3 after suffering a right hamstring strain.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Throws bullpen session
Phillips (hamstring) threw another bullpen session Saturday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Saturday's mound session was Phillips' second since landing on the injured list May 5 with a strained right hamstring. He still has yet to face live hitters, but manager Dave Roberts said after Phillips' session that the right-hander is roughly a week away from rejoining Los Angeles' bullpen.... See More ... Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Beginning mound work Wednesday
Phillips (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Phillips has been on the injured list with a strained right hamstring since May 5, and he resumed playing catch Friday. He will presumably throw multiple bullpen sessions before progressing to facing live hitters, though he shouldn't take long to build back up as a reliever.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Progressing through injury
Phillips (hamstring) was out on the field playing catch Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Phillips was placed on the 15-day IL on Sunday due to a Grade 1 right hamstring strain he sustained May 3 against Atlanta. He is eligible to return May 19, and the right-hander might only miss the minimum. Phillips has eight saves with a 0.66 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB over 13.2 innings this season.... See More ... Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Out with hamstring strain
The Dodgers placed Phillips on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right hamstring strain, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports. The right-hander presumably suffered the injury during Friday's appearance against Atlanta, when he struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning amid a 2-2 tie. Manager Dave Roberts said Phillips' injury is a Grade 1 strain, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, so the absence may not be a lengthy one. Daniel Hudson is the likely favorite to fill in at closer for the Dodgers.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Notches eighth save
Phillips gave up an unearned run on one hit and struck out two Saturday to record his eighth save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays. The closer's own throwing error with two outs put Davis Schneider aboard and led to Toronto's final run, but Phillips otherwise had little trouble sealing the victory. The right-hander is a perfect 8-for-8 in converting save chances to begin the season, and he's delivered a dazzling 0.77 ERA and 15:4 K:BB through 11.2 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Keeps rolling with seventh save
Phillips earned a save against the Nationals on Thursday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning of work. Phillips didn't have any trouble protecting Los Angeles' one-run, ninth-inning lead, striking out the first two batters he faced before inducing a game-ending groundout. The right-hander has yielded just one earned run over 10.2 innings on the season, giving him a minuscule 0.84 ERA. Phillips has converted all seven of his save chances as he continues to build his case as one of the league's most reliable closers.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Escapes with sixth save
Phillips gave up a hit and three walks in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his sixth save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Nationals. He struck out two. The right-hander threw only 16 of 32 pitches for strikes in a shaky appearance, but Phillips got a bit lucky when Luis Garcia was caught in a rundown between third base and home plate rather than scoring on a CJ Abrams single. Phillips then erased a bases-loaded jam by fanning Jesse Winker to end the game. The Dodgers' closer had issued only one free pass in his first 8.2 innings this season, so the sudden control issues aren't a concern just yet. Phillips has yet to blow a save chance in 2024 while posting a 0.93 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB through 10 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Lands another save
Phillips earned the save Monday, firing a scoreless, hitless inning during which he recorded one strikeout. Phillips notched a clean inning for his fourth save of 2024, placing him in a four-way tie for the most saves in MLB. Outside of a hiccup in his appearance Saturday, Phillips has been near perfect this season, having allowed just one hit and no runs in his other five outings combined.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Retires four for save No. 3
Phillips picked up the save Tuesday against San Francisco, yielding one hit and no walks over 1.1 scoreless frames. He struck out two. Fantasy managers got an extended look at the Dodgers' closer Tuesday, with Phillips entering the game with two outs and two runners on in the eighth to get Los Angeles out of a jam. While he kept the Giants off the scoreboard in the one-run win, Phillips did surrender his first hit of the 2024 season via a Jung Hoo Lee single in the ninth. Overall, Phillips is propped up to be one of the most valuable closers in all of fantasy with a safe hold on the closing job for one of baseball's most talented teams.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Grabs second save
Phillips picked up a save Friday versus the Cardinals, striking out one in a clean inning. Phillips set down St. Louis in order in the ninth inning, closing out a three-run Los Angeles victory for his second save this year. The 29-year-old right-hander figures to be a steady source of saves this year, holding down the closing job on an elite Dodgers team. Phillips converted 24 of 27 save chances last season, pitching to a 2.05 ERA with a 0.83 WHIP and 66:13 K:BB across 61.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Nabs smooth save in season opener
Phillips earned a save against the Padres in South Korea on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning. Phillips entered in the ninth frame with the Dodgers holding a comfortable three-run lead, and he kept things stress-free for his club by retiring the side in order on 12 pitches. After easing his way into the closer role last year, the right-hander appears set for steady work in that capacity in 2024, with manager Dave Roberts commenting early in camp that Phillips would get "the brunt" of the team's save opportunities. That makes him an appealing fantasy target given the Dodgers' potential to rack up wins and Phillips' outstanding results each of the past two seasons.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Set for majority of save chances
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Phillips is in line to receive "the brunt" of the save chances for the team, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The Dodgers flirted with signing Josh Hader and have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Kenley Jansen if he's traded. For the time being, however, Phillips is the clear best option to close, having posted a dominant 1.74 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 152:33 K:BB across 134.2 innings during his time in Los Angeles. The 29-year-old notched 24 saves in 27 chances last season.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Notches 24th save
Phillips picked up the save in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Giants, striking out one over a perfect inning. Phillips will wrap up the regular season having allowed just one earned run in his last 18.1 innings, going 9-for-10 in save opportunities in that span. While the Dodgers employed a committee at times this season, the 29-year-old Phillips emerged as their top closing option in the second half. He'll wrap up the campaign with a 2.05 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 66:13 K:BB across 61.1 innings while converting 24 of 27 save chances.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Blows save but earns win
Phillips (2-4) blew a save but earned the win over Seattle on Saturday, allowing an unearned run on two hits and one walk over one inning. The game was scoreless after nine innings before Los Angeles put up a run in the top of the 10th. Phillips entered in the bottom of the frame looking for a challenging save and retired the first two batters he faced before giving up a two-out single to Mike Ford that scored the tying run. Phillips then surrendered a double and issued an intentional walk to load the bases, but he escaped the jam by getting Teoscar Hernandez to ground out, and Phillips earned the win as a result of the Dodgers plating five runs in the top of the 11th. The blown save was hardly a meltdown considering the circumstances, but it was still Phillips' first since July 4. He's been excellent since then, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB over 21.2 frames while picking up 11 saves.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Notches 23rd save
Phillips allowed two hits and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 6-3 win over the Mariners. Phillips again flirted with danger after taking a loss in his outing Monday versus the Padres. He had runners on the corners with two outs but got Teoscar Hernandez to strike out to end the threat. Phillips is 23-for-25 in save chances while adding six saves this season, and he's maintained a 2.43 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 61:11 K:BB through 55.2 innings. He's converted his last 11 save chances in a row.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Notches 22nd save
Phillips struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his 22nd save of the season in an 8-5 win over the Nationals. The right-hander needed just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to convert his 10th straight save chance, fanning Jake Alu and Carter Kieboom to wrap things up. Phillips' last blown save came in early July, and he sports a stellar 1.47 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB through 18.1 innings since the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less
