  • Mets' Christian Scott: Likely stuck at Triple-A, for now

Scott allowed one run on five hits and one walk while striking out six over 3.2 innings for Triple-A Syracuse against Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said earlier this week -- prior to Scott's outing Wednesday -- that the plan was for the right-hander to remain at Syracuse for the time being, per Alex Smith of SNY. "We're still having conversations, but with all the off days we have coming up, we feel like a five-man rotation is what's best for us moving forward," Mendoza said. The 24-year-old Scott has struck out 49 batters in 34 innings with Syracuse this season, though he has also struggled to keep the ball in the yard, both at Triple-A and in his brief time in the majors so far. He should be up again later this season, but the organization seems to be pumping the brakes on an imminent return.

  • Mets' Christian Scott: Excellent in Triple-A start

Scott gave up one run on two hits and one walk while striking out seven in five innings Wednesday for Triple-A Syracuse.

The Mets are keeping Scott on turn while he's waiting at Triple-A to rejoin the big-league rotation. While the Mets have five starters in the rotation currently, Scott figures to re-enter the mix as early as next week.

  • Mets' Christian Scott: Heading to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Scott to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

The 24-year-old top prospect has pitched well in his first five big-league starts with a 3.90 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 27.2 innings, but with the Mets having three scheduled off days coming up surrounding their two-game series against the Phillies in London next weekend, they'll use the opportunity to limit Scott's innings in his third professional campaign. The 24-year-old right-hander should rejoin the big-league rotation later in the season.

  • Mets' Christian Scott: Tosses five frames in no-decision

Scott allowed two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters over five innings in a no-decision against Arizona on Thursday.

Scott gave up a pair of third-inning runs but otherwise kept the Diamondbacks off the scoreboard. He got through only five frames, though, as he was pulled after throwing 91 pitches. The rookie right-hander continues to hold his own in the majors, as he's given up three or fewer earned runs in four of his five starts thus far. Collectively, he's posted a 3.90 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB through 27.2 innings.

  • Mets' Christian Scott: No-decision in quality start

Scott came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-7 loss to the Giants, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out four.

Matched up against Kyle Harrison in a battle of premiere rookies, Scott threw only 54 of 94 pitches for strikes but generated plenty of soft contact aside from a second-inning solo shot by Jorge Soler. It was the third quality start in four outings for the right-hander since his promotion, and Scott will take a 3.97 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB through 22.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Dodgers.

  • Mets' Christian Scott: Stumbles in Miami

Scott (0-2) took the loss Friday as the Mets fell 8-0 to the Marlins, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out three.

All the damage off the rookie right-hander came in the second inning, with a three-run homer by light-hitting catcher Nick Fortes accounting for most of it. Scott left the mound after throwing 84 pitches (55 strikes), and after a strong big-league debut against the Rays, he's run into trouble against NL East foes. The 24-year-old will stick in the rotation for now, but if his struggles begin to mount, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Mets sent him back to Triple-A. Scott will carry a 4.32 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB through 16.2 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Cleveland.
