  • Jaguars' Ventrell Miller: Working back from injury

Miller is progressing in his return from an Achilles injury, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Miller was hurt in the Jaguars' final preseason contest last August and missed the entire campaign. The 2023 fourth-round pick will look to make his NFL debut in 2024 and could work his way up to prominent role among the team's linebacker corps.

  • Jaguars' Tank Bigsby: Could spell Etienne more often

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said last week that he would like Bigsby to get more playing time to "take some of the pounding off of Travis [Etienne]," Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union reports.

Jaguars brass made similar comments last offseason after drafting Bigsby in the third round, but he had just three games all season with more than three carries and none with more than 17 snaps. A pair of lost fumbles on his first 24 touches didn't help, and the Jaguars eventually preferred D'Ernest Johnson as the running back to give Etienne occasional breathers. While Johnson is back with the team in 2024, Bigsby's combination of draft capital, college production (2,903 rushing yards) and size (six-foot, 213 pounds) should allow him another shot to win the No. 2 role. Whether the Jaguars actually end up trusting him enough to take a significant chunk out of Etienne's workload is another question.

  • Jaguars' Travis Etienne: Workload to decline?

Doug Pederson said during OTAs that the Jaguars want to lean on Etienne less during the 2024 campaign in order to keep him healthy, Michael DiRocco of ESPN reports.

Pederson said it's "hard to put necessarily a rep count" on Etienne's weekly touches, but that looking ahead to 2024 season the coaching staff is "making sure [Tank Bigsby] gets opportunities to get out there and take some of the pounding off of [Etienne]." As DiRocco notes, Etienne finished 2023 accounting for 76 percent of the running back touches for Jacksonville, a high workload that coincided with a disappointing rookie showing for Bigsby. If either D'Ernest Johnson or Bigsby can emerge as a more consistent backup, fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Etienne's total touches do indeed decrease this season. While that would certainly represent a blow to Etienne's fantasy ceiling, the 2021 first-round pick does his damage more with efficiency and speed than grinding out carries between the tackles. Jacksonville picked up Etienne's fifth-year option earlier this offseason, which keeps him under contract through 2025.

  • Jaguars' Christian Kirk: Feeling healthy again

Kirk (groin) said Monday that he feels back to full health and looks forward to leading Jacksonville's revamped wide receiver room in 2024, Shaaz Peerani of WJXX ABC 25 Jacksonville reports.

Kirk missed the final five games of the 2023 season due to a groin issue, but he said that he's now healthy and "ready to wake some people back up and remind them of the type of player I am." The 27-year-old is now the most experienced starter in the Jaguars' wideout corps, with Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones having been replaced by Gabe Davis and rookie first-round pick Brian Thomas. Kirk praised Thomas and second-year pro Parker Washington, but the 27-year-old is the favorite to re-emerge as Trevor Lawrence's most trusted target, with tight end Evan Engram also primed to occupy a key role in the passing game.

  • Jaguars' Cooper Hodges: Back at OTAs

Hodges (knee) participated in OTAs on Tuesday, Justin Lewis of the Florida Times-Union reports.

Hodges sustained a patella injury in the Jaguars' second preseason game last year and missed the entire regular season after being placed on the IR on Aug. 31. The 2023 seventh-round pick appears to have recovered from the injury, and he should provide the Jaguars with depth on the offensive line for the upcoming season.

  • Jaguars' Christian Braswell: Getting work in

Braswell (hamstring) participated in OTAs on Tuesday, Jamal Cyr of Channel 4 Jacksonville reports.

He appeared in three games for the Jaguars last season and logged nine snaps on special teams before landing on injured reserve in October due to a hamstring injury. Braswell was participating in drills Tuesday, rotating with Darnell Savage and Jarrian Jones in the secondary.
