Blue Jays' Ricky Tiedemann: Languishes in first rehab start
Tiedemann (elbow) retired one batter via strikeout and gave up three earned runs on two hits and two walks in his rehab start Friday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
The left-hander was pitching in a game for the first time in more than two months, and the rust was evident. In addition to issuing two walks, Tiedemann was charged with two wild pitches in the 19-pitch outing. The 21-year-old will likely stick around in the FCL for at least one more rehab start and will look to show improved control before the Blue Jays decide whether he's fit to rejoin the Triple-A Buffalo rotation. He's resided on Buffalo's injured list since April 18 with left elbow inflammation.

Blue Jays' Ricky Tiedemann: Returning to mound Friday
Tiedemann (elbow) will make a rehab start with the Blue Jays' Florida Complex League affiliate Friday, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.
It will be the top prospect's first appearance since April 11, as he's been sidelined with left ulnar nerve inflammation in his pitching elbow. Tiedemann will eventually move up to Triple-A Buffalo, where he began this season before getting hurt. He's a candidate to join the Blue Jays at some point this season, but Tiedemann figures to remain in the minors for a while as he attempts to prove he can be healthy and effective for an extended period.

Blue Jays' Ricky Tiedemann: Close to rehab assignment
Tiedemann (elbow) threw a live batting practice session Friday and could begin a rehab assignment this week, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The 21-year-old lefty last pitched April 11 for Triple-A Buffalo before being shut down with what was diagnosed as ulnar nerve inflammation in his elbow, but he's close to resuming game action. Tiedemann will likely begin his rehab stint in the Florida Complex League or with Single-A Dunedin, and he could rejoin the Buffalo rotation by the end of June. If Tiedemann can manage to stay healthy, he remains a candidate to bolster the major-league staff in the second half.

Tiedemann faced hitters for the first time since being placed on the 7-day IL on April 18 with ulnar nerve inflammation. The next step for Tiedemann will be a rehab assignment, which will likely begin in the Florida Complex League or with Single-A Dunedin. Regardless, Tiedemann appears to be making strong progress and should be back with Triple-A Buffalo in June.

Blue Jays' Ricky Tiedemann: Throwing off mound again
Tiedemann (elbow) is back on a mound and throwing bullpens according to Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
Tiedemann has been out with ulnar nerve inflammation in his left elbow since late April and the team has been cautious in its approach to his recovery. Atkins said that the top prospect will be back in game action "relatively soon" and one silver lining of the injury is that it removed any concern about limiting his workload down the road this season.

Tiedemann (elbow) has resumed throwing at the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Dunedin, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The 21-year-old left-hander is currently only throwing from flat ground, and it could be a couple weeks before Toronto puts him back on a mound. There's no timeline yet for Tiedemann's return to game action, and the Jays aren't going to rush their top pitching prospect. He hasn't pitched since April 11, stumbling to a 5.63 ERA with a 10:9 K:BB over eight innings in three appearances for Triple-A Buffalo before being shut down.

Blue Jays' Ricky Tiedemann: Ulnar nerve issue in elbow
Tiedemann has been diagnosed with ulnar nerve inflammation in his left elbow, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
The hope is that Tiedemann will be ready to begin throwing again in 7-to-10 days. All things considered, it's a very favorable diagnosis for the top pitching prospect. Tiedemann was struggling at Triple-A Buffalo before getting hurt, posting a 5.63 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 10:9 K:BB over eight frames.

Blue Jays' Ricky Tiedemann: Undergoes MRI for elbow injury
Tiedemann underwent an MRI on his left elbow Thursday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
There's no word yet on the results of the MRI, but it's not the first time the top prospect has dealt with an arm issue. Tiedemann was limited to just 44 innings last season because of shoulder and biceps problems and now could be facing another lengthy absence. The 21-year-old boasts a ridiculous 39.5 percent strikeout rate in the minors but has made only 36 starts since being drafted in 2021 due to various injuries.

Blue Jays' Ricky Tiedemann: Lands on injured list
Tiedemann (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list Thursday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
There were no details provided about the injury. Tiedemann had gotten off to a shaky start to the minor-league season with Triple-A Buffalo, allowing five earned runs across eight innings while walking seven, and he hasn't pitched since April 11. Any possibility of a big-league debut later this season is on hold until his health situation becomes clearer.

Blue Jays' Ricky Tiedemann: In mix for opening series start
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Friday that Tiedemann is "in the mix" to make the Opening Day roster and get a start during the first series of the season in Tampa Bay, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
Tiedemann's potential inclusion on the Opening Day roster hinges on whether Kevin Gausman (shoulder) is ready for a start during the opening series or needs a short stint on the injured list. Mitch White is the favorite to handle the assignment, with Yariel Rodriguez, Wes Parsons and Paolo Espino also in the mix along with Tiedemann to fill in for Gausman. It's difficult to envision the young left-hander winning out if he would only be needed for one start, but the fact that he's even being considered points to his potential to reach the majors sooner rather than later.
