Desharnais registered an assist, three hits and four blocked shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Canucks in Game 5. The helper was Desharnais' first point since a two-assist game versus the Ducks on March 30. The 27-year-old defenseman has added 27 hits, 26 blocks, three shots on net and a minus-4 rating over 10 playoff appearances. He continues to play in a bottom-four role as a physical presence, so his lack of production typically won't have an impact on fantasy competitions.... See More ... See Less

Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Contributes two helpers Saturday
Desharnais notched two assists, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Ducks. Desharnais snapped a 17-game point drought with his helper on a Mattias Ekholm goal in the first period. Just under a period later, Desharnais grabbed another assist on Warren Foegele's tally. With 11 points through 68 contests this season, Desharnais is far from a scoring threat. He's added 113 hits, 103 blocked shots, 52 PIM and a plus-6 rating to bring some physicality to the Oilers' bottom four.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Ready to play Tuesday
Desharnais (undisclosed) told reporters he would be in the lineup against Montreal on Tuesday, stating "I'm good. I'm ready to go," per Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic. Desharnais is currently stuck in a 13-game drought during which he recorded a mere seven shots on net. While the blueliner won't offer much for offense, he does rack up plenty of hits and blocked shots, posting 27 and 21, respectively, during his scoring slump. With Desharnais back in action, Troy Stecher figures to remain a healthy scratch.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Undergoing injury evaluation
Desharnais will be evaluated for an undisclosed injury sustained Saturday versus the Avalanche, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports. Desharnais was used sparingly in the third period but didn't retreat to the locker room for treatment. He hasn't gotten on the scoresheet in 13 contests. If Desharnais misses time, Troy Stecher would step into a bottom-four role.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Registers assist in win
Desharnais notched an assist and three hits in Monday's 6-3 win over the Coyotes. Desharnais has racked up three assists, 15 blocked shots, 14 hits and 10 PIM over seven outings in February. The physicality is no surprise, but the 27-year-old defenseman is starting to come around on offense a bit as well, giving him viability in deeper fantasy formats. For the season, he's produced nine points, 77 hits, 75 blocked shots and 37 PIM over 50 appearances in a third-pairing role with virtually no power-play time.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Posts helper in win
Desharnais logged an assist, three hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 8-4 win over the Red Wings. Desharnais has three helpers over his last eight contests. The 27-year-old saw an increase in ice time around the All-Star break, but his playing time is likely to fluctuate based on the game situation as long as he remains listed on the third pairing. The blueliner has eight points, 64 hits, 68 blocked shots, 30 shots on net and 29 PIM through 47 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Pockets helper
Desharnais notched an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Flames. Desharnais doesn't contribute offense often -- his two assists over eight games in January already make this his second-best month of the campaign. The 27-year-old defenseman remains in a third-pairing role to provide physicality. He has six points, 49 hits, 53 blocked shots, 27 PIM, 22 shots on net and a plus-2 rating over 40 appearances.... Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Ends 14-game slump
Desharnais posted an assist and two hits in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Flyers. Desharnais went 14 games without a point before drawing the secondary helper on Connor McDavid's first-period tally Tuesday. Playing in a third-pairing role has done little for Desharnais' limited offense -- he has just five points over 33 contests. The 27-year-old blueliner has added 43 hits, 47 blocked shots and 27 PIM while averaging 14:22 of ice time per game, providing some grit on the back end. Given the Oilers' cap situation and the lack of success from defensemen they've called up on occasion, Desharnais' spot in the lineup should be considered secure.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Snags assist in win
Desharnais posted an assist and went plus-2 in Friday's 5-0 win over the Capitals. Desharnais began November with 10 scoreless games before helping out on an Evander Kane tally in the first period Friday. Desharnais has seen limited usage in a bottom-four role, though he has been in the lineup with regularity. The 27-year-old blueliner has two points, 11 shots on net, 17 blocked shots, 20 hits, 23 PIM and a minus-3 rating through 17 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Posts two helpers
Desharnais notched two assists in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Kings in Game 6. Desharnais had a hand in both of Klim Kostin's tallies in the contest. The pair of helpers snapped Desharnais' 17-game point drought. The young defenseman added two shots on net, 10 blocked shots, eight hits, four PIM and a minus-3 rating in six playoff contests. He appears to have a role regardless of whether the Oilers use six or seven blueliners, but the 26-year-old isn't one to produce much offense.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Mixed results in win
Desharnais recorded an assist, two hits and four PIM in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Kraken. Desharnais has picked up a pair of assists through his first four NHL contests. While he's showing some quality on offense, he's also taken eight PIM -- that won't keep him in the good graces of the coaching staff for long if he can't cut down in that area. The blueliner has added six hits, four blocked shots and a plus-3 rating while finding a spot in the lineup when the Oilers opt to play seven defensemen.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Collects first NHL assist
Desharnais logged an assist in Friday's 7-1 win over the Sharks. Desharnais stuck in the lineup for a second straight game with Kailer Yamamoto (undisclosed) missing Friday's contest. In the first period, Desharnais logged the secondary helper on Klim Kostin's goal, giving the former his first NHL point. The 26-year-old defenseman has added three hits, two blocked shots, two PIM, one shot on net and a plus-1 rating through two appearances. He's in the mix for a third-pairing role going forward, though if the Oilers continue to use seven defensemen, it would give him an easier path to playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Up with Oilers
Desharnais was brought up from AHL Bakersfield on Monday. Desharnais has two assists and 19 PIM in 13 AHL games with the Condors this season. The 26-year-old defender doesn't have any NHL experience yet.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Vincent Desharnais: Healthy with AHL Bakersfield
Desharnais (wrist) was activated from injured reserve and sent down to AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday, per CapFriendly. Desharnais was hurt in training camp and landed on the non-roster list to begin the season. The 26-year-old blueliner will get up to speed with the Condors, though the Oilers' tight salary cap situation makes it unlikely for him to see much time at the NHL level.... See More ... See Less
