The heavyweight championship rematch between Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) and Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) originally scheduled for July 9 at the Manchester Arena will be postponed to a later date.

Fury posted to Instagram on Friday morning with a message to his fans, claiming that he suffered a sprained ankle on a training run 10 days ago and will be sidelined for six to seven weeks.

"Hey, guys, I've got a little bit of bad news for you all," said Fury. "About 10 days ago I was running up in the late district and went over on me ankle, sprained me ankle. I've been to the hospital and had x-rays and MRI scans and all that stuff. They said it's not broken, but badly sprained and to keep off it for 6-7 weeks. I tried to still train a bit, had a second opinion a week later and had the same advice. So the fight will be being postponed. Sorry to all me fans to let you all down. Injuries do happen and it's just one of them things. My apologies to everybody who's booked dates, but the fight will be on as soon as possible. That's all I know at this moment. The fight's still going ahead as soon as the ankle gets better, we will reschedule. Thank you all and God bless."

While Fury cites a sprained ankle as the reason for postponement, ESPN.com's Dan Rafael reports that it could be tied to partying too much. Either way, the rematch for the WBA, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles will be put off until later this year, possibly in October.
