BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) Just seven nights earlier Florida failed to make a 3-pointer for the first time in 850 games.

On Wednesday night against LSU, the 25th-ranked Gators reached the opposite end of the spectrum as they made a school-record 19 3-pointers in their 106-71 victory.

Florida missed all 17 of its shots from behind the 3-point line in losing 57-53 at South Carolina one week ago. The Gators made 58 percent of their 3-point shots (19 of 33) against the Tigers.

The Gators (15-5, 6-2 Southeastern Conference) had little problem in handing the Tigers their worst home defeat in 54 seasons. Florida took the lead for good at 11-8 on a 3-pointer by KeVaughn Allen less than 5 minutes into the game. The Gators had a double-digit lead before 9 minutes elapsed.

''The ball movement was as good as it's been this year for us,'' Florida coach Mike White said. ''Our point guards' numbers were good. Our bigs did as good of a job as they have done with making solid decisions. The ball didn't stop. Hopefully, we can see that more often.''

Devin Robinson scored a career-high 24 points to lead Florida. Robinson, who was 9 of 15 from the field, made a career-high five 3-pointers. Freshman Eric Hester scored a season-high 16 points. Justin Leon had 15 points, Kevarrius Hayes had 12 and Allen and John Egbunu had 11.

''It feels good to go from not making any 3s to setting a school record,'' Robinson said. ''But, we really aren't into that. We just try to take it one game at a time and get back on the right track. The two-game losing streak we had wasn't us at all.''

Duop Reath led LSU (9-10, 1-7) with 15 points. Freshmen Skylar Mays and Wayde Sims had 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Tigers.

''I am very disappointed in tonight's game,'' LSU coach Johnny Jones said. ''I didn't see this coming. We've gotten our butts kicked earlier this year. We went to war at Arkansas (losing 99-86 on Saturday). We needed to do that against a good Florida team and we didn't get that.''

BIG PICTURE

Florida: After losing consecutive SEC games, the Gators bounced back with an inspired effort against the Tigers. Florida, which cracked the 100-point mark for the first time this season, pulled within one game of Kentucky in the league standings.

LSU: The losing streak reached six games for the Tigers. All but one of the defeats have been by double digits. LSU allowed at least 90 points for the sixth time in its last nine games.

POLL IMPLICATIONS

For the time being, Florida avoided dropping out of the Top 25 with its second most-lopsided victory in its series against LSU. The Gators, who had dropped their past two SEC games to South Carolina and Vanderbilt, defeated the Tigers 102-62 in 1965.

LONG RANGE BOMBERS

Five Florida players made at least three 3-pointers against LSU. Robinson and Hester each made five shots from behind the arc. Hester was 5 of 5 on 3-pointers. Leon, Allen and Chris Chiozza each made three 3-point shots. Canyon Barry, the Gators' second-best 3-point shooter, did not play because of an ankle injury.

ANOTHER BLOW OUT LOSS

For the fourth time this season, LSU lost a game by at least 30 points. The Tigers were beaten earlier this season by Wichita State (82-47), Wake Forest (110-76) and Texas A&M (92-62). The 35-point defeat was LSU's largest at home in 54 seasons. The Tigers were beaten by Mississippi State 99-64 in 1963.

UP NEXT

Florida: The Gators will play at Oklahoma in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday.

LSU: The Tigers will travel to Texas Tech for a game in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday.
