Derrick Gordon is transferring from Western Kentucky.
The Hilltoppers star freshman guard said it has nothing to do with new coach Ray Harper, but that he wants to be closer to his family in New Jersey.
"It honestly had nothing to do with the coaching staff," Gordon told CBSSports.com. "I want to get back towards New Jersey, so my family can watch me play and so I can see my brother."
Gordon's twin brother is incarcerated in New Jersey.
Gordon said that, despite reports, there is no school list just yet. He'd like to get back closer to home and also got somewhere that can help develop his point guard skills so that he can be a true combo guard.
"I realize I need to work on my ball handling and want to go somewhere that I can play both backcourt spots," Gordon said.
Gordon averaged 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this past season for a Western Kentucky team that lost to Kentucky in the NCAA tournament.
