Sources: Illinois State to hire Vandy assistant Dan Muller
Illinois State is expected to hire Vanderbilt assistant Dan Muller to replace Tim Jankovich.
Sources told CBSSports.com that Muller, who played at the school from 1995-98, was offered and accepted the position Monday.
Illinois State interviewed three candidates in Saint Louis earlier in the week: Muller, Gonzaga assistant and former Utah coach Ray Giacoletti and Redbirds assistant Rob Judson.
The local newspaper, The Pantagraph, reported that Judson was getting the job on Monday morning.
However, athletic director Gary Friedman opted to go with Muller.
Muller went to the NCAA tournament the last two years as a player. He has been on the staff at Vanderbilt for the past 12 seasons -- and helped recruit Festus Ezeli, Jeffery Taylor and John Jenkins to the school.
Muller will replace Jankovich -- who left to be the coach-in-waiting with Larry Brown at SMU.
