New 'Nova assistant Doug Martin resigns due to inaccuracies on his resume

Only days after Villanova filled its assistant coach vacancy, head coach Jay Wright will have to look for someone else to round out his staff.

Doug Martin, who was announced as Doug West's replacement on Monday, has resigned due to inaccuracies on his resume.

“I have always known Doug [Martin] to be a good person and coach,” Wright said in a statement. “He has taken responsibility for his mistake and will move on successfully! We all wish Doug well.”

There were questions raised late this week regarding the biography Martin submitted to the university. According to his bio, Martin played college basketball at Wisconsin-Green Bay from 1991-95. As ESPN.com's Dana O'Neil pointed out, though, there was no record of Martin ever playing at Green Bay.

Martin was a coach with the Team Takeover AAU program and Paul VI High School in Virginia before being hired by Villanova.
