Southern Illinois guard and former Badger Diamond Taylor suspended
Southern Illinois junior guard Diamond Taylor has been suspended indefinitely after being charged with driving under the influence Saturday morning.
Taylor was expected to have an increased role this season after averaging 4.3 points last season.
"I am extremely disappointed in Diamond," Hinson said in a statement. "We're in the business of educating student-athletes and teaching them how to conduct themselves on and off the court, and this is a significant setback."
Taylor initially signed with Wisconsin out of Bolingbrook High in Illinois, but never played for the Badgers after being arrested in September of 2009 on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property and underage drinking.
Taylor was also arrested in July for allegedly stealing a bicycle and was suspended last season after being arrested for possession of marijuana.
Hinson inherited a team that went 8-23 last season under Chris Lowery.
