Gambler wins $120,000 betting on Texas State

In the CBSSports.com Expert Picks, I was one of four CBS "experts" to go 22-0 while picking games straight up last weekend. It's a feat I'm pretty proud of, to be honest with you, right up there with winning a national title at Virginia in my NCAA 13 franchise a few weeks ago.

That being said, I'd trade in all 22 of those wins and that fake national championship for the chance to go back in time and place a $3,000 bet on Texas State to beat Houston last week like one gambler did.

From Vegas Insider:

William Hill sports books were one of the only bet shops to offer a money-line on the Houston game and one lucky bettor cashed a $3,000 wager on Texas State at 35/1 odds. Despite the $105,000 payout, William Hill still posted a strong day on their first college football weekend as an operation in the states.

Yes, that's right, one gambler didn't just bet $3,000 on Texas State to cover a 34 1/2-point spread. They bet on Texas State to win its first FBS game straight up, on the road, against a team that went 13-1 last season.

Sometimes stupidity pays off.

UPDATE: According to R.J. Bell, the bet was not actually $3,000 at 35/1 odds, but $2,000 at 60/1 odds. Which means the bettor took home $120,000, not $105,000. Either way, this is all way too much money to be risking on the outcome of a game played by college kids.
