    • Orioles RP Chris Perez retires from baseball
      By Jason Lempert

Right-handed reliever Chris Perez has retired from baseball. Perez had been serving a 50-game suspension for violating MLB's Drug Prevention Act. Perez began the year pitching in the Brewers' organization, posting a 9.39 ERA in six relief appearances for Triple-A Colorado Springs. He was released and signed a minor-league deal with the Orioles at the beginning of July, but never made an appearance due to his ban. Though, he had been working out at the Orioles' training complex in Sarasota, Fla, according to MASNSports.com. The two-time All-Star, who saved 123 games for the Indians between 2010-2013, has not thrown a big-league pitch since 2014 when he made 49 appearances with the Dodgers.
