The Yankees removed 12 players from their spring roster Tuesday. Outfielder Ramon Flores was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, while Francisco Arcia, Tyler Austin, Bruce Billings, Robert Coello, Brian Gordon, Corban Joseph, Mark Montgomery, Pete O'Brien, Jose Pirela, Mason Williams and Chase Whitley were reassigned to minor-league camp.
The Yankees announced Wednesday they signed nine players to minor-league contracts, which included an invitation to spring training. They were pitcher Bruce Billings, infielder Russ Canzler, pitcher Robert Coello, pitcher Brian Gordon, pitcher Chris Leroux, outfielder Antoan Richardson, infielder Scott Sizemore, infielder Yangervis Solarte and infielder Zelous Wheeler.
Angels pitcher Robert Coello elected free agency, MLB.com reports. Coello posted a 3.71 ERA and struck out 23 over 17 innings with Anaheim.
The Angels activated reliever Robert Coello from the 60-day disabled list Monday. Coello had been out since the middle of June due to shoulder and elbow soreness. Coello returns to the bullpen with a 4.30 ERA over 13 outings this season for the Angels.
Angels reliever Robert Coello's rehab assignment has been moved up to Triple-A, MLB.com reports. Coello threw a scoreless inning at Double-A Arkansas with a pair of strikeouts and could be back in the Angels bullpen by the weekend.
