The Phillies announced Tuesday that Elmore has joined the organization as a hitting coach for Double-A Clearwater, MLB.com reports. Elmore spent the 2021 campaign at Triple-A Lehigh Valley and hit .225/.392/.275 in 51 plate appearances, and he'll remain in the Phillies organization to begin his coaching career. He appeared in 217 big-league games across six seasons for his career and finished with four home runs, 37 runs scored and 37 RBI.... See More ... See Less

Jake Elmore: Let go by Cleveland
Elmore was released by Cleveland on Friday. The 33-year-old joined the 60-man player pool in early July and had been at the team's alternate training site. Elmore appeared in 20 games for the Pirates last season and had a .479 OPS in 49 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Jake Elmore: Signs with Cleveland
Elmore signed a minor-league contract with Cleveland on Friday and will join the team's 60-man player pool. Elmore was released by the Pirates in mid-June but didn't have to wait long before finding a new deal. The 33-year-old is unlikely to play a significant role in Cleveland this season, as he owns a career .215/.292/.275 slash line in 217 major-league games.... See More ... See Less -
Jake Elmore: Cut by Pittsburgh
The Pirates released Elmore on June 9. Elmore was one of several minor-league players cut loose by the Pirates, likely as a cost-saving measure. The utility man appeared in 20 games with the big club in 2019, slashing .213/.245/.234 with zero home runs and four RBI across 49 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jake Elmore: Outrighted to Triple-A
Elmore was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. The Pirates will clear space on the 40-man roster by sending Elmore to Triple-A. He hit .213 with four RBI over 20 games in the big leagues last season.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jake Elmore: Promoted to big club
Elmore had his contract selected from Triple-A Indianapolis prior to Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports. Elmore slashed .322/.387/.455 with six homers, 35 RBI and three stolen bases over 109 games at Triple-A, and he'll now have a chance to finish off the 2019 campaign in the big leagues, likely in a bench role.... Pirates' Jake Elmore: Clears waivers
Elmore cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday. Elmore went 1-for-20 during his brief stay in Pittsburgh. He'll remain as organizational depth but does not appear to be close to a return to the big leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jake Elmore: DFA'd by Pittsburgh
Elmore was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Sunday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. Elmore was promoted almost two weeks ago but struggled mightily during his brief time in the majors, going 1-for-20 in 11 games. The 31-year-old could make his way back to Triple-A Indianapolis if he clears waivers.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Jake Elmore: Sticks with White Sox on MiLB deal
Elmore re-signed with the White Sox last week on a minor-league contract, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. Elmore spent the 2018 season in the White Sox organization, playing exclusively at Triple-A Charlotte and submitting a .289/.397/.359 slash line across 394 plate appearances. The utility man hasn't surfaced in the big leagues since 2016 and will face an uphill battle to appear for the White Sox at any point in 2019 while he remains off the 40-man roster.... See More ... White Sox's Jake Elmore: Heads to minor-league camp
The White Sox reassigned Elmore to minor-league camp Friday. Elmore signed a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training in February and saw only nine official at-bats. The 30-year-old seems likely to start the season with Triple-A Charlotte as organizational infield depth, assuming he remains with the White Sox.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Jake Elmore: Signs minor-league contract with White Sox
Elmore agreed to a minor-league deal with the White Sox which includes an invitation to spring training, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports. Elmore spent the entire 2017 campaign at the Triple-A level, compiling a .236 batting average with one home run, 41 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 110 games split between New Orleans and Buffalo. The 30-year-old most recently played in the big leagues with Milwaukee in 2016, earning 78 at-bats, but slashed just .218/.371/.244 during 59 contests. He will add some extra organizational depth to the White Sox's infield moving forward.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Jake Elmore: Contending for roster spot
Elmore, a non-roster invitee, is a legitimate contender for an Opening Day roster spot, Corey Long of MLB.com reports. Elmore's ability to play several different positions has been attractive to the Blue Jays' coaching staff this spring. Manager John Gibbons said there's a lot of value in players like Elmore, who can sit for extended periods and be ready to fill holes in the lineup on short notice. Over his five MLB seasons, Elmore has played all nine defensive positions and logged at-bats from every spot in the order. The versatile 29-year-old has tallied 257 plate appearances over his last two campaigns with Tampa and Milwaukee, but his offensive numbers are brutal. If added to the 25-man roster, Elmore will be a defensive choice and therefore lack fantasy value -- regardless of format.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Elmore: Outrighted to Triple-A
Elmore was outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday. The Brewers' 40-man roster now stands at 37 after several players were bumped Friday, including Elmore. He got on base at a strong .371 clip in 59 games with Milwaukee in 2016 and is a versatile defender, but Elmore turns 30 next year and seems destined to play out his career as organizational depth.... Brewers' Jake Elmore: Unable to produce offensively
Elmore is hitting just .178 on the year with three RBI over 60 plate appearances. The fourth-year player has been unable to have consistent success as he only has one hit in his last 15 at-bats. He'll continue to find limited playing time as he serves as a backup to Ryan Braun.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Elmore: Gets called up
Elmore's contract was selected from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday. Elmore will make his fifth trip back to the majors now -- each with a different team -- as Alex Presley gets designated for assignment. The 29-year-old has been an on-base machine this season with Milwaukee's Triple-A affiliate, posting a .320 BA and .428 OBP through 57 games. His production in the minors has yet to translate against better competition, however, as he sports a career .215 average in the majors. The first basemen now has another opportunity to prove that he can compete at the highest level.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Jake Elmore: Pinch hits Tuesday
Elmore pinch hit in Tuesday's game and ultimately went 0-for-1 against Cincinnati. The 28-year-old second baseman has struggled throughout most of this year's spring training and is batting just .240 in his 30 plate appearances. Elmore is unlikely to see much time at the big-league level this coming season as he's currently behind Scooter Gennett, Colin Walsh, Aaron Hill, and Yadiel Rivera on the depth chart.... See More ... Brewers' Jake Elmore: Signs a minor league contract with Brewers
Elmore agreed to a minor league contract with the Brewers on Monday that included an invite to spring training. Elmore has bounced around the league, playing with five different organizations since 2012. His most recent stop was with Tampa Bay, where he played 51 games in the majors but only mustered a .206/.263/.284 slash line. Elmore can play all around the infield and even played some outfield last season, which could help him garner some value in a rebuilding Brewers organization.... See More ... See Less -
Jake Elmore: Elects free agency
Elmore elected free agency after being outrighted off the 40-man roster Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Elmore struggled mightily in the majors this season, slashing .206/.263/.284 and wasn't much better with Triple-A Durham, as he hit just .247 in 57 games at the level. The 28-year-old has never enjoyed much success at the big league level, but he'll look to find a spot where he can compete for an Opening Day roster spot out of spring training.... See More ... Rays activate Asdrubal Cabrera; option Jake Elmore
The Rays activated shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera after Monday's win over the Tigers, reports the Tampa Bay Times. Cabrera has been out since July 11 with a hamstring injury. To make room for Cabrera, the team optioned first baseman Jake Elmore to Triple-A. Prior to Monday's game, Elmore was hitting .206 with two home runs and 16 RBI in 141 at-bats.... See More ... Rays to use Beckham, Elmore at shortstop with Cabrera sidelined
With Rays starting shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera on the disabled list due to a hamstring injury, manager Kevin Cash said Tim Beckham and Jake Elmore will split time at shortstop, according to the Tampa Bay Times. "There won't be a constant," Cash said. "We'll try to find what we view as the better matchup for each guy. They both do a lot of things well. "You look at Beck, he has the ability to hit the ball out of the ballpark and play good defense at short. You look at Jake as having the ability to be as consistent probably as anybody and be able to manufacture some things with a bunt, hit-and-run, stuff like that. "We're going to miss Cabby while he's down, but we like the two options going forward."... See More ... See Less
