  • Marlins' Preston Guilmet: Removed from 40-man roster

Guilmet was outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. However, he'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster.

Guilmet had his contract selected by Miami on Friday. Guilmet has been at Triple-A Jacksonville since being designated for assignment at the end of July, but he'll rejoin the Marlins for the final series of the season. The 34-year-old has only one big-league appearance in 2021 and should fill a low-leverage role out of the bullpen.

  • Marlins' Preston Guilmet: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

The Marlins designated Guilmet for assignment Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Guilmet's stint with the Marlins lasted just one day, as he was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday following the placement of pitcher Trevor Rogers on the COVID-19 injured list. With Rogers being reinstated Sunday, Guilmet -- a 33-year-old journeyman reliever who hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2018 -- was the most logical candidate to lose a spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster.

  • Marlins' Preston Guilmet: Added to player pool

Guilmet was added to the Marlins' 60-man roster Monday. Guilmet signed a minor-league deal with Miami in March, and he'll work at the team's alternate training site as part of the 60-man roster. However, the right-hander hasn't appeared in the majors since 2018 and is unlikely to join the active roster this year.

  • Marlins' Preston Guilmet: Signs with Marlins

Guilmet signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Friday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports. Guilmet spent all of 2019 with Triple-A Rochester, compiling a 4.93 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 94:22 K:BB in 73 innings (44 appearances, six starts). The veteran right-hander has struggled in his limited big-league opportunities and will likely serve as organizational bullpen depth.

  • Twins' Preston Guilmet: Agrees to deal with Twins

Guilmet signed a minor-league contract with Minnesota on Friday, Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage reports. Guilmet appeared in eight major-league games split between St. Louis and Toronto this past season. His 11.70 ERA and 2.20 WHIP across 10 innings of relief justified the Blue Jays' decision to designate the right-hander for assignment, and he spent the rest of the year at the Triple-A level. Guilmet will serve as additional depth for the Twins' bullpen in 2019.

  • Blue Jays' Preston Guilmet: Stays in organization

Guilmet was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday. The Blue Jays scooped up Guilmet when the Cardinals waived him in June, but no other team was willing to add him to its 40-man roster when he was exposed to waivers this time around. Perhaps some of the luster from Guilmet's gaudy minor-league numbers this season (0.93 ERA, 35:5 K:BB in 29 innings at the Triple-A level) wore off after he was blitzed for 13 runs on 18 hits and four walks across 10 innings over his eight big-league appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Preston Guilmet: Designated for assignment

Guilmet was designated for assignment by Toronto on Wednesday. Guilmet was cast off the 40-man roster after a stretch of uninspiring performances (10.29 ERA and 2.14 WHIP across seven innings since June 19). This marks the second time Guilmet has been DFA'd this season, the first coming in early June when St. Louis decided he wasn't worthy of a spot.

Guilmet only spent two days with the major-league team after getting his contract purchased from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday. • Cardinals' Preston Guilmet: Contract purchased from minors

Guilmet had his contract purchased from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday. Guilmet will join the Cardinals after posting an impressive 0.93 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and 35:5 K:BB across 29 innings with the Redbirds. Given his lack of major-league experience, he'll likely start out in a lower-leverage role with the big club, but he could work himself into a more prominent role if his minor-league success translates and he's able to stick in the majors. Greg Garcia was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding roster move, while Steve Baron was designated for assignment.

  • Cardinals' Preston Guilmet: Inks minors deal with Cardinals

Guilmet signed a minor-league contract with the Cardinals on Friday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Guilmet hasn't seen action in an MLB game since 2015, when he split five contests between Tampa Bay and Milwaukee. However, the Cardinals are going to bring him in on a minor-league deal, which should allow the 30-year-old pitcher a chance to join St. Louis for spring training. All that said, Guilmet is unlikely to make much of an impact in terms of fantasy value heading into 2018.

  • Tigers' Preston Guilmet: Bounces back after bad spring training

Guilmet threw one inning of relief, allowing one hit and striking out one in Triple-A Toledo's season opener against Louisville on Thursday. Guilmet had a poor spring training performance, allowing seven hits, four earned runs and two home runs in 4.1 innings. If the Tigers need a bullpen arm from the minors, they will likely choose Bruce Rondon or Matt Boyd off the Toldeo roster over Guilmet, but if Guilmet continues pitching the way he did Thursday, his name may come up more.

  • Tigers' Preston Guilmet: Signs minor league deal with Tigers

Guilmet signed a minor league contract with the Tigers on Friday that includes an invite to spring training. Guilmet appeared in just five major league games last season as a member of the Rays and Cubs, allowing nine earned runs in just 7.1 innings of work. He'll be given chance to claim a spot in the Tigers' retooled bullpen when spring training gets underway.
