Carpio joined the Mets' player pool Friday. Carpio has yet to reach the Triple-A level and isn't on the Mets' 40-man roster, but it's not out of the question that he could make his big-league debut this year. The 23-year-old posted a .263/.347/.362 slash line in 82 games for Double-A Binghamton last season, good for a 113 wRC+.... See More ... See Less

Mets' Luis Carpio: Homers in Double-A debut
Carpio went 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored for Double-A Binghamton on Sunday. Promoted from High-A St. Lucie over the weekend after slashing .330/.396/.426 through 31 games, Carpio made an immediate impact in his first look at Eastern League pitching. The 21-year-old infielder is currently the Mets' No. 9 fantasy prospect, but his stock is on the rise as he shows he might be able to contribute with his bat as well as his glove in the majors.... Mets' Luis Carpio: Strong start at High-A
Carpio went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored for High-A St. Lucie on Friday. The 21-year-old is off to a fast start in the Florida State League, slashing .330/.396/.426 through 31 games with a 10:15 BB:K. Carpio, listed at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, isn't hitting for much power in 2019 after selling out to do so last year -- even after Friday's two-baggers, he still only has six extra-base hits on the year with four doubles, a triple and a homer -- and his 2-for-5 performance on stolen-base attempts is rough, so as yet he hasn't dispelled the perception that he'll max out as a glove-first bench player in the majors. If he keeps flashing plus contact skills at higher levels and adds some pop back to his profile as he matures, though, he could surprise.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Luis Carpio: Back in action
Carpio (shoulder) has returned to the field, playing primarily second base for Low-A Columbia. He is hitting .381/.536/.429 with three steals through 21 at-bats. He has started five of six games at the keystone, with the other start coming at shortstop. Carpio has a very impressive 5:6 K:BB and is 3-for-3 on stolen-base attempts. This is his first taste of a full-season league after missing the entire 2016 season following shoulder surgery, so it is very impressive that he has hit the ground running. Now would be a good time to pick him up in really deep dynasty leagues if he is available.... See More ... See Less
