Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base Monday in a 6-3 victory versus the Cubs. Cronenworth's first theft of the campaign came as part of a double steal with Fernando Tatis in the sixth inning, and both players subsequently came home on a Jurickson Profar single. Cronenworth doesn't typically offer much in terms of speed, though he did swipe a career-high six bags last season. The first baseman is working on a 10-game hitting streak during which he has slashed .357/.378/.690 with three homers, 10 RBI and seven runs.... See More ... See Less

Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Goes yard again
Cronenworth went 3-for-5 with a solo homer in Friday's win over Arizona. Cronenworth smacked a 398-foot home run off Slade Cecconi in the fourth inning to give him his third homer in five games. The Padres first baseman also extended his hit streak to seven games, batting .370 (10-for-27) during that time. Cronenworth has started the season on a tear, slashing .279/.353/.516 with six home runs, 25 RBI and 18 runs scored over 142 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Belts go-ahead grand slam
Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a grand slam during Wednesday's 6-2 win over Cincinnati. Cronenworth swatted his third career grand slam in the seventh inning off reliever Fernando Cruz, breaking the 2-2 tie and giving the Padres the eventual win. The first baseman has generated a hit in six straight games with five extra-base hits and nine total RBI during that stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Goes deep in loss
Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Sunday's loss to the Phillies. Cronenworth doubled his first time up and then would briefly put the Padres in front with a two-run shot to right off Taijuan Walker in the third. The 30-year-old has found his bat lately with seven hits and five RBI over his last five games. For the year, he's now slashing .264/.344/.453 with four homers, 19 RBI, 14 runs and a 12:19 BB:K in 122 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Hits bench versus lefty
Cronenworth isn't in the Padres' lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies. Cronenworth will get a breather Friday with lefty Ranger Suarez on the mound for Philadelphia. Jurickson Profar will start in his place at first base, allowing Jose Azocar to start in left field while batting ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Three hits Tuesday
Cronenworth went 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Rockies. Tuesday was Cronenworth's second three-hit effort of the year and his first since the team's opening series in Japan. Despite a productive evening, Cronenworth has been struggling to hit lately and does not have an extra-base knock since homering April 12. Over his last eight games, the 30-year-old is slashing just .200/.351/.200 with one RBI, four runs and a 7:5 BB:K.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Back in lineup Friday
Cronenworth (calf) is starting at first base and hitting third in the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Cronenworth left Monday's game against the Brewers after experiencing calf tightness. He sat out the Padres' last two games, and the team's day off Thursday has given the 30-year-old enough time to recover. Cronenworth is slashing .254/.333/.465 with three home runs and 14 RBI over 81 plate appearances to start the season.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Out for second straight game
Cronenworth (calf) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers. Cronenworth will get a second straight game off to heal up from a tight calf that forced him out of Monday's 7-3 win in the series opener. The Padres are hoping that a pair of days off plus Thursday's team off day will provide sufficient time for Cronenworth to recover before the start of this weekend's three-game series with Toronto. Matthew Batten will spell Cronenworth at first base Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Sitting out with calf injury
Cronenworth (calf) is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee. Cronenworth was pulled from Monday's contest with calf tightness, so it's no surprise to see him sitting a day later. The good news is that he has not been placed on the injured list as the Padres brought up Matthew Batten as infield protection, projecting some apparent optimism that it's a day-to-day situation for Cronenworth. Jurickson Profar will handle first base Tuesday, while Jose Azocar will be in left field.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Nursing calf issue
Cronenworth left Monday's game against the Brewers after experiencing tightness in his calf, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Cronenworth reportedly felt the issue while trying to reach base on a groundout during the eighth inning, but skipper Mike Shildt said after the game that it's too early to know if the injury will force Cronenworth to miss additional time. The 30-year-old will be considered day-to-day until the medical staff has more information to share.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Launches homer Friday
Cronenworth went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in an extra-innings 8-7 win against the Dodgers on Friday. Cronenworth's lone hit in the contest was a sixth-inning solo blast that brought San Diego within three runs. It was his third homer of the campaign, all of which have come over his past four contests. Cronenworth hit 21 long balls in 2021 but went deep just 10 times over 521 plate appearances last season.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Drives in two
Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a two-RBI double during Thursday's 6-4 win over the Giants. Cronenworth plated Xander Bogaerts and Jackson Merrill on a seventh-inning double as part of a four-run frame for the Padres. He's now generated multiple RBI in back-to-back games dating back to San Diego's two-game series in South Korea against the Dodgers and has already driven in six on the season.... See More ... Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Starting in spring opener
Cronenworth (wrist) will start at first base and bat third in Thursday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers. Cronenworth didn't play after Aug. 25 last season due to a fractured right wrist, but he avoided surgery to address the injury and appears to have experienced no limitations thus far in spring training. With Xander Bogaerts making the move to second base in 2024 and Ha-Seong Kim entrenched as an everyday starter at shortstop, Cronenworth should see an even higher volume of starts at first base during the upcoming season than he did in 2023, when he made 94 starts at the position. Cronenworth is still expected to carry middle-infield eligibility in most leagues this season after he made 30 starts at the keystone in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Expected to avoid surgery
Cronenworth is not expected to need surgery to repair his fractured right wrist, MLB.com reports. Undergoing surgery would no doubt end his season, although it would still seem to be a long shot that he makes it back given that he'll be in a cast for several weeks. With the Padres' playoff hopes growing slimmer by the day, it makes little sense for Cronenworth to rush back.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Removed after HBP on wrist
Cronenworth was lifted from Friday's game in Milwaukee after being hit on the right wrist by a pitch, 97.3 The Fan reports. A 92 mph Andrew Chafin fastball caught Cronenworth in a bad spot and he was quickly removed from the game. The infielder is no doubt headed for X-rays, with an update on his condition possibly available later Friday. Cronenworth was 1-for-3 with a single in addition to the hit by pitch before exiting.... Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Three hits, two RBI in loss
Cronenworth went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two RBI in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks. Cronenworth hit an RBI single in the first inning and an RBI double in the seventh to account for half of the Padres' run production. The infielder has nine multi-hit efforts over his last 15 games, a stretch that has raised his batting average from .206 to .232 on the year. He's added a .706 OPS, 10 home runs, six stolen bases, 46 RBI and 52 runs scored through 116 contests overall.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Knocks 10th home run
Cronenworth went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Friday's win against the Diamondbacks. Cronenworth drilled a two-run shot during San Diego's four-run third inning. It was his 10th long ball of the year and second in his last five appearances immediately following a 25-game homerless drought. Despite the recent lack of power, Cronenworth has produced a 1.085 OPS over his last 13 games, raising his season slash line to .229/.315/.387 through 114 games.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Belts ninth homer
Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday in a loss to the Dodgers. The Dodgers jumped out to a big early lead, so Cronenworth's solo shot in the seventh inning didn't make much of an impact on the outcome. Nonetheless, the long ball snapped a 25-game homerless drought for the utility man and marked the fourth time in his past six games that he's knocked in a run. Despite the lack of power, Cronenworth has been swinging a hot bat of late, putting together a nine-game hitting streak during which he's slashing .432/.462/.649 with five extra-base hits, four RBI, nine runs and two stolen bases.... Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Posts steal in loss
Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Rangers. The steal was Cronenworth's career-best fifth of the season and his first since July 7. The infielder has continued to struggle at the plate this month, going 17-for-78 (.218) over 23 contests in July. For the season, he has a .210/.303/.355 slash line with eight home runs, 38 RBI, 43 runs scored, 17 doubles and six triples through 103 games.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Records fourth steal
Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning loss to the Mets. Cronenworth is 1-for-2 on the basepaths in July after just one steal (and attempt) in June. The infielder has hit safely in four of six games this month, going 7-for-19 (.368) with four extra-base hits and seven RBI. He's at a .218/.318/.365 slash line with four steals, eight home runs, 33 RBI and 36 runs scored through 86 contests, but he's showing some life at the plate.... See More ... See Less
