MyKBO reports that the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization signed outfielder Felix Pie. Formerly of the Orioles and Cubs, Pie appeared in 27 games with the Pirates in 2013, going 4 for 29 (.138) at the plate.
The Pirates announced Friday that outfielder Felix Pie rejected an outright to Triple-A Indianapolis and has elected to become a free agent. Pie batted .138 in 27 games this year.
Pirates outfielder Felix Pie had a hit in his first major-league game since 2011 Wednesday. Pie hit a single, finishing the game 1 for 3. He also walked. The Pirates were held to just four hits against Padres starter Ian Kennedy, so Pie was one of the only bright spots for the club.
Pirates outfielder Felix Pie hasn't been in the majors since 2011, but the team is hoping he isn't too rusty. Pie is hitting leadoff against the Padres Wednesday. Pie is hitting .251/.325/.390 in 354 Triple-A at-bats.
Pirates outfielder Felix Pie has been called up to the majors Wednesday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pie will likely replace Ryan Reid on the roster. Reid was not listed on the team's lineup sheet Wednesday. Pie hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011.
