• Friedrich among Rockies cuts Tuesday

News: The Rockies optioned Michael McKenry to the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Tuesday. The following players were also reassigned to minor league camp: pitchers Craig Baker, Andrew Johnston, Andrew Graham and Christian Friedrich; catchers Jordan Pacheco and Wilin Rosario; infielders Darin Holcomb and Jeff Kindel; and outfielder Chris Frey.
Analysis: Friedrich is an elite pitching prospect who could impact all Fantasy leagues by June 1. The others are likely to spend the entire year down in the minors, so ignore them on Draft Day in most formats.
  • Rockies announce more spring invites

News: The Rockies have announced the following non-roster invitations to spring training: pitchers Christian Friedrich, Craig Baker, Andrew Graham, Andrew Johnston and Juan Rincon; catchers Jordan Pacheco and Wilin Rosario; infielders Jonathan Herrera, Darin Holcomb, Jeff Kindel, Michael Paulk and Omar Quintanilla; and outfielders Chris Frey, Cole Garner and Matt J. Miller.
Analysis: Friedrich is an elite pitching prospect, while Rosario is an intriguing catcher prospect and the outfielders have some long-term potential, too. We don't expect any of these players to make the team out of spring training at this point.
  • Rockies cut four from roster

News: The Rockies reassigned OF Chris Frey, 2B Luis A. Gonzalez and C Wilin Rosario to minor league camp and optioned RHP Esmil Rogers to Double-A Tulsa on Tuesday.
Analysis: These players are nothing more than organizational depth at this point. Ignore them in all Fantasy leagues right now.
  • Rockies announce some spring invites

News: The Colorado Rockies invited RHP Jhoulys Chacin, 3B Christian Colonel, OF Chris Frey, RHP Brandon Hynick, C Michael McKenry and OF Matt J. Miller to spring training. Also, they signed C Sal Fasano to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Analysis: Chacin is an elite pitching prospect who should impact all Fantasy leagues this season. Watch him closely this spring and in the first half. The rest figure to have too limited of roles to help in any Fantasy format if they make it up on the roster this season.
