    Lucas May won't make opening day roster

    Catcher Lucas May was notified by the Brewers Saturday that he won't make the opening day roster, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. May, who hasn't played in the majors since 2010, saw only two at-bats this spring. He is expected to travel with the team for their upcoming exhibition games against the Royals at Miller Park.

    Pirates continue to cut down roster

    The Pirates announced Wednesday they optioned pitcher Kyle McPherson, infielder Jordy Mercer and outfielder Alex Presley to Triple-A Indianapolis. They also reassigned catcher Lucas May, pitcher Vin Mazzaro, catcher Carlos Paulino, outfielder Felix Pie, pitcher Ryan Reid and pitcher Mike Zagurski to minor-league camp.

    Big spring game for Lucas May

    Pirates catcher Lucas May had a big game in Grapefruit League action Sunday, as he went 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBI. May is hitting a sharp .400/.478/.500 in 20 spring training at-bats, but with Mike McKenry and Russell Martin on hand for the Pirates, May will likely go to Triple-A to open the season.
