      Athletics INF Andy Parrino sent to Nashville

      The Athletics have announced that infielder Andy Parrino has been outrighted to Triple-A Nashville. He had been designated for assignment Friday. Parrino has appeared in 17 games this season, but mostly as a defensive replacement. He's hitless in six at-bats.

      As expected, the Athletics placed reliever Edward Mujica on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a fractured thumb. Mujica suffered the injury during Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Rays. He held a 3.32 ERA at the time of the injury. In a corresponding move, Oakland selected the contract of infielder Andy Parrino from Triple-A Nashville. Parrino hit .273 (38 for 139) with six doubles, two triples, four homers, 12 RBI, 20 walks and 43 strikeouts in 38 games at Triple-A this season. The A's also added Tyler Ladendorf (ankle) to the 60-day disabled list to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

      Athletics reassign three players to minors Sunday

      The Athletics decided to reassign three players Sunday including: shortstop Andy Parrino, catcher Luke Carlin and first baseman Max Muncy, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Carlin git .273 with six RBI in 22 plate appearances this spring while Muncy hit .375 in 32 at-bats with two home runs and 10 RBI. Parrino hit just .196 with four doubles and 11 strikeouts in 46 at-bats. Carlin is likely to be back with the team Tuesday to catch for Barry Zito, according to the report.

      The Athletics sent infielder Andy Parrino outright to Triple-A Nashville on Friday after clearing waivers, per the San Francisco Chronicle. He was sent for an assignment last week. Parrino hit .152 in 46 at-bats for the A's last season. He's expected to be invited to big-league spring training.

      Andy Parrino expected to return to Oakland

      The Athletics are expected to recall infielder Andy Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento following Thursday's game, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. With Jed Lowrie expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list, manager Bob Melvin hinted that Parrino is expected to get the call. He was sent down after a brief cameo in July, and is hitting .286/.363/.404 in 374 at-bats at Triple-A.
