Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Signs $5M deal with Rockies

Arenado and the Rockies agreed to terms on a one-year, $5 million deal Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports. Arenado is coming off of a breakout season in which he hit .287 and led the National League in both home runs (42) and RBI (130) while playing in 157 games. The 24-year-old will receive a substantial raise in his first season of arbitration eligibility, but he won't hit free agency until after the 2020 campaign.

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado homers in Friday's win

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Giants on Friday. The ridiculous season continues for Arenado, as that marks his 42nd home run and 42nd double of the season. An even more ridiculous number is that he has 130 RBI this year. Arenado should be garnering MVP votes, but the Rockies are just too bad to get any support from the voters. He should easily be a top-25 pick going into next season.

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado finishing the season on a high note

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring two runs and driving in five in a victory over the Dodgers on Sunday. He's now hit home runs in consecutive days against the Dodgers, continuing his torrid September. Through 26 games, the 24-year-old has a .330/.351/.698 slash line, while totaling 11 home runs and 31 RBI. His success this season hasn't really been a productive of Coors Field either. His numbers in visiting ballparks (.250/.285/.525, 21 HR and 52 RBI) are not far off from his home numbers (.313/.350/.610, 20 HR and 74 RBI).

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado hits grand slam for 40th home run

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado swatted a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning of Saturday's win over the Dodgers, giving him 40 homers for the season. Arenado became the first Rockies player to finish with at least 40 homers in a season since Coors Field began placing baseballs in a humidor in 2002. It's been a tremendous year for Arenado, who looks like the leading candidate to take home both Silver Slugger and Gold Glove honors at third base for the National League.

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado returns to Thursday's lineup

Contrary to a previous report, Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado (head) is hitting third in Thursday's lineup against the Pirates, The Denver Post's Patrick Saunders reports. Saunders originally reported that Arenado was out of the lineup, but he was reading off the prior day's lineup card, so Arenado was not a late add, it was just an error by the reporter. Thankfully his head injury appears to have been really minor and he should continue to man the hot corner for the Rockies over the rest of the season.

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado a no-go again Thursday

Rockies slugger Nolan Arenado is still sidelined Thursday against visiting Pittsburgh with a head injury, per Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post. He left the game Tuesday after landing on his forehead while diving for a grounder. Though he passed the initial concussion tests, the injury is still serious enough to force him to miss his second game in a row.

Rockies keep 3B Nolan Arenado out of Wednesday's lineup

Rockies third basman Nolan Arenado (head) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates. Arenado left Tuesday's game after landing on his head and it appears that injury will force him out of the contest Wednesday as well. It remains to be seen if it will impact the 24-year-old in the coming days, but for the moment Daniel Descalso will get the start in his place.

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado notches three hits in win

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado went 3 for 4 with an RBI, a steal and two runs scored in a win over San Diego on Friday. It was only his second steal of the season, but it just adds to his impressive resume. The young third baseman is not only the best fielder at his position in the league, he very well may be the best hitter at his position. Arenado now maintains a .286 average to go along with 39 homers and 112 RBI in 143 games this season. He is not in the MVP discussion, but with numbers like those and the defense he provides, he probably should be.

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado ties NL lead for homers Tuesday

Rockies slugger Nolan Arenado went 3 for 7 with a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the 16th inning in a 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Tuesday. The homer was his 39th of the season, tying Bryce Harper of Washington for the National League lead. After playing all 16 innings of the game, it wouldn't be a surprise if manager Walt Weiss elected to rest Arenado for the series finale Wednesday.

Rockies' Nolan Arenado pads NL home run lead with first-inning blast

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado increased his home run lead, as he cranked out a solo shot in the first inning of Thursday's 4-3 win over the Padres. Arenado is on some kind of tear right now. He has homered in two of his last three games, and has eight longballs in 11 games this month. And it's not just a power display for the stud third baseman. He's batting .432 with three doubles so far in September.
