      The Cubs have recalled outfielder Matt Szczur from Triple-A Iowa prior to Tuesday's game against the Marlins, the team announced. In 13 game since his most recent demotion to Iowa on May 17, Szczur has been hitting .391 (18 for 46) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs and seven RBI. In a corresponding move, the Cubs have optioned outfielder Mike Baxter to Triple-A. Baxter had just one hit in nine at-bats since being recalled on May 19.

      Cubs recall RHP Brian Schlitter, demote OF Matt Szczur

      The Cubs have recalled right-hander Brian Schlitter from Triple-A Iowa and optioned outfielder Matt Szczur to the same team. Schlitter was sent down three weeks ago after compiling a 9.53 ERA in seven relief appearances to start the season. He recovered with six shutout performances for Iowa.
