    Cardinals recall Marco Gonzales, two others on Tuesday

    The Cardinals have officially recalled left-hander Marco Gonzales from Triple-A Memphis. Gonzales will start Tuesday's game against the Nationals, making his season debut for the Cards. In 2014, the rookie pitcher went 4-2 with a 4.15 ERA in 10 appearances (five starts). He's dealt with injuries this season, and posted a 4.42 ERA in 17 starts across three levels of the Cardinals' minor league system in 2015. Joining Gonzales from Memphis are right-hander Mitch Harris and catcher Cody Stanley .

    Cards promote Cooney, demote Stanley; Wainwright to 60-day DL

    The Cardinals officially purchased the contract of left-hander Tim Cooney and optioned catcher Cody Stanley down to Triple-A Memphis. Adam Wainwright, who had season-ending Achilles surgery, was transferred to the 60-day disabled list, per the team's official website. He's expected to return in 10-12 months, per USA Today.
