Duvall went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and scored twice during Atlanta's 5-0 win over Miami on Tuesday. Duvall came around to score after reaching on a fielder's choice during the second inning, and his sixth-inning home run would end up scoring Atlanta's final two runs in a game that was hardly ever in doubt. Although Duvall played well Tuesday, he remains stuck in the short side of a platoon with Jarred Kelenic and shouldn't be relied upon to provide consistent fantasy production -- even on days he does start.... Braves' Adam Duvall: Swats first homer of year
Duvall went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Marlins. The veteran slugger took Jesus Luzardo deep in the fourth inning. Duvall has mainly been limited to a short-side platoon role to begin the season, splitting starts in left field with Jarred Kelenic, and through seven games he's batting .250 (6-for-24) with a double, a homer, three runs and six RBI.... Braves' Adam Duvall: Picks up two hits in loss
Duvall went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday's 16-4 loss to the Mets. The 35-year-old has only seen five starts on the year while working on the short side of a platoon in left field, but Duvall has shown decent consistency at the plate during that time. If he is able to stay consistent at the plate he could get a little more playing time outside of his platoon role, but Jarred Kelenic's hot start (.462 through 26 at-bats) stands as a major obstacle to a rise in fantasy prominence for Duvall.... Braves' Adam Duvall: Back with Atlanta on one-year deal
Duvall signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Atlanta on Thursday. Duvall seems like more of a luxury than a necessity for Atlanta, but the club has decided to bring the 35-year-old back for what will be his third stint in the organization. The addition of Duvall will allow Atlanta to limit Jarred Kelenic's exposure against left-handed pitching, and the veteran Duvall will also provide some insurance as Ronald Acuna comes back from a knee issue. Duvall slashed .247/.303/.531 with 21 home runs over 92 games for the Red Sox last season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Absent from lineup again
Duvall is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Orioles, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports. This marks four out of the last five games that Duvall has not been in the starting lineup, as Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu both look to have passed the veteran outfielder in the pecking order down the stretch, at least against right-handed pitching. Duvall has managed a lowly .494 OPS this month.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: On bench Saturday
Duvall is not in the lineup Saturday against the White Sox. Masataka Yoshida, Ceddanne Rafaela and Alex Verdugo are the starting outfielders for the Red Sox on Saturday. They will go up against right-hander Dylan Cease. The outfielder has had a rough September, and since Sept. 16 he has gone 4-for-23 with a .508 OPS.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Homers Wednesday
Duvall went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Wednesday's loss against Texas. Duvall got the Red Sox on the board early Wednesday, blasting a three-run, 443-foot homer off Jon Gray in the first inning. It's certainly a step in the right direction for Duvall, who'd been marred in a 2-for-36 slump while striking out at a 55.3 percent rate in his previous nine games. Overall, the veteran outfielder is slashing .250/.308/.533 with 20 homers, 56 RBI and 43 runs scored through 331 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Takes seat Friday
Duvall is absent from the lineup Friday at Toronto. Masataka Yoshida, Wilyer Abreu and Alex Verdugo will start across the outfield for the Red Sox as they take on right-hander Jose Berrios. Duvall has primarily been playing against lefties in recent weeks and is 3-for-34 (.088) so far in September.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Gets breather for Game 2
Duvall isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. Duvall went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored during Boston's win in Game 1, and he will sit out the nightcap. His absence will allow Wilyer Abreu to start in center field and bat sixth.... Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Sitting Wednesday
Duvall is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports. The veteran outfielder is 0-for-17 with 14 strikeouts over his past four games and will head to the bench for Wednesday's contest. Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela and Alex Verdugo will start across the outfield while Masataka Yoshida serves as the designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Absent from lineup
Duvall is absent from the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. Duvall had been slated to sit out Monday before the game was rained out, and he will remain out of the lineup for the makeup contest as he goes through a slump at the plate. Wilyer Abreu is patrolling center field for the Red Sox.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Out of lineup again Monday
Duvall is absent from the lineup for Monday's game versus the Yankees. Duvall has now been on the bench for three straight contests following a stretch when he went 0-for-13 with 10 strikeouts. The 35-year-old has been productive on the whole for the Red Sox this season, but the peaks and valleys in production for Duvall are nothing new. Wilyer Abreu will be in center field again Monday while Duvall sits.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Sitting again Sunday
Duvall remains out of the lineup Sunday versus the Orioles. This appears to be part of a planned two-day break for Duvall, who was also on the bench Saturday versus Baltimore and has gone 0-for-13 with 10 strikeouts over his last three games. Ceddanne Rafaela will cover center field and bat leadoff for the Red Sox on Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Not starting Saturday
Duvall will be on the bench for Saturday's game against Baltimore, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports. Duvall finds himself on the bench for the first time since Aug. 18. He owns a 1.043 OPS since his last off day but has gone 0-for-13 with 10 strikeouts in his last three games, so a rest is probably called for. Wilyer Abreu will take over in center field.... Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Launches another homer
Duvall went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Royals. Duvall is feeling it right now. Sunday's home run was his eighth in the last 13 games. He's hit safely in 12 of those 13 games, slashing .408/.463/.1020 with six doubles, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. The Red Sox are still in the playoff hunt -- 5.5 games behind the final wild card spot -- and manager Alex Cora will operate as such. That means sending the veteran Duvall out there daily until postseason hopes are extinguished.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Homers in fourth straight game
Duvall went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Astros. Duvall now has a home run in each of his last four games and seven in his last nine contests -- he's gone 17-for-36 (.472) with a 1.707 OPS in that span. Duvall's torrid stretch has boosted his slash line to an impressive .276/.337/.593 with 18 homers, 50 RBI, 39 runs scored and four steals across 270 plate appearances this season.... See More ... Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Possible waiver wire pickups
Duvall's time with the Red Sox began splendidly with him hitting .455 (15 for 33) with four homers in his first eight games, but a fractured wrist put a stop to that. It had been slow going since he returned in early June, but he appears to be catching fire again, batting .483 (14 for 29) with five homers and five doubles in his past seven games. A three-time 30-homer man, which includes a career-high 38 home runs in 2021, Duvall is certainly capable of making an impact down the stretch. It's an all-or-nothing profile, which is why you might think twice in points leagues especially, but then again, he's coming off a 52-point week.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Two more extra-base hits
Duvall went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored in Sunday's loss against the Dodgers. Duvall hit his 16th homer of the year in the eighth to pull the Red Sox to within three. Duvall has been scorching recently, recording multi-hit efforts in seven of his last nine, including five in which he's recorded multiple extra-base hits. Duvall is hitting .410 with five home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs scored over his last 39 at-bats.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: Power surge continues
Duvall went 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer in Saturday's win over the Dodgers. Duvall blasted a towering, three-run homer that gave Boston a 5-4 advantage in the sixth inning. The long ball was the veteran's fourth in his last six games, and he's 12-for-25 with 11 RBI and five runs scored during that span.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Adam Duvall: In Thursday's lineup
Duvall (foot) is starting in left field and batting cleanup Thursday in Houston, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports. Duvall popped a go-ahead, three-run home run one pitch after fouling a ball off his right foot in Wednesday's win over the Astros and was noticeably gimpy running around the bases. He finished out that contest, though, and is back in there for Thursday's afternoon tilt. Duvall will be trying to make it four games in a row with a home run.... See More ... See Less
