      David Carpenter, Mitch Stetter fighting for Angels' bullpen

      David Carpenter and Mitch Stetter are fighting for the final spot in the Angels' bullpen. The team could also send Garrett Richards to Triple-A to act as an emergency starter, but he has a 1.88 ERA in 14 1/3 innings this spring. Carpenter has been bothered by a back injury during the spring, which pushed his debut back to March 17. Stetter was a non-roster invite to camp, and has been strong against lefties over his career.

      Stetter back with Brewers

      The Milwaukee Brewers signed relief pitcher Mitch Stetter to a minor-league contract on Wednesday. Stetter was released by Texas at the end of spring training after allowing six runs -- two earned -- in 3 1/3 innings during Cactus League play.
