Musil was reassigned to AHL Bakersfield on Monday. Musil failed to crack the lineup during this latest stint in the NHL. In 16 minor league appearances, the blueliner has tallied one goal, five assists, and eight PIM. Given the lack of healthy defensemen, the move to demote Musil could mean that Brandon Davidson (shoulder) will be activated off injured reserve prior to Tuesday's matchup with Columbus.
Musil was recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Wednesday Mark Fayne was sent to IR with an undisclosed ailment Wednesday, so Musil was brought up as the replacement option. The 23-year-old hasn't played in an NHL game since April of 2015, and the lack of experience has us recommending that you look elsewhere from help on the fantasy blue line.
Musil was placed on waivers Saturday. Musil signed a one-year, two-way contract in July with Edmonton, but the team is apparently already ready to part ways with the defenseman. Now 23 years old, Musil spent last season with AHL Bakersfield.
Musil signed a one-year contract with the Oilers on Friday. According to General Fanager, Musil's contract is of the two-way variety. He's expected to make $600,000 at the NHL level and $75,000 in the AHL, with another $85,000 guaranteed. Last season, the big defender produced 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 67 games with AHL Bakersfield. You can safely pass over him in most fantasy leagues since he's unproven and not even a lock to play more than a handful of games in the NHL this season.
The Oilers assigned David Musil to AHL Oklahoma City on Sunday.
