Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Won't play Wednesday
Hakanpaa (lower body) won't be available for Game 5 versus Vegas on Wednesday, according to Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine. Hakanpaa hasn't been in the lineup since March 16. Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Not practicing
Hakanpaa (lower body) has yet to return to practice, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports Saturday. Hakanpaa is likely not an option for Saturday's Game 3 or Monday's Game 4 versus Vegas, and if the Stars don't win one of those games, their season is over. Hakanpaa's continued absence will keep Nils Lundkvist in the lineup on the third pairing. Hakanpaa can be considered out indefinitely until he resumes practicing with the team.... See More ... Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Won't play Wednesday
Hakanpaa (lower body) won't be in the lineup Wednesday against St. Louis, according to Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine. Hakanpaa will miss his 13th straight contest. He still could be available for the beginning of the playoffs, but the Stars won't rush him back into action. The 32-year-old blueliner will conclude the 2023-24 regular season with two goals, 12 points, 56 shots on net, 123 blocked shots and 196 hits in 64 games.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Might return for playoffs
Hakanpaa (lower body) might be available for the playoffs, coach Peter DeBoer told Brian Rea of Bally Sports Southwest on Wednesday. Hakanpaa is at least skating on his own, but he'll presumably need to participate in some practices before getting an opportunity to rejoin the lineup. The 32-year-old defenseman has two goals, 12 points, 33 PIM, 196 hits and 123 blocks in 64 outings this season. He'll miss his seventh consecutive game when Dallas faces Edmonton on Wednesday.... Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Won't play Friday
Hakanpaa (lower body) will not be available versus the Penguins on Friday, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports. Hakanpaa will be on the shelf for his second consecutive contest due to his lower-body issue. The 31-year-old Finn is stuck in a 23-game goal drought during which he's managed just 23 shots to go with four assists. Even once cleared to play, Hakanpaa is far from a lock for the lineup and could find himself a periodic healthy scratch.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Out Wednesday
Hakanpaa (lower body) won't play Wednesday versus Arizona, Brian Rea of Bally Sports Southwest reports. Hakanpaa has two goals, 12 points, 33 PIM, 196 hits and 123 blocks in 64 outings in 2023-24. Due to Hakanpaa being unavailable, Nils Lundkvist is projected to draw into the lineup against the Coyotes.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Records assist Thursday
Hakanpaa produced an assist and four hits in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Devils. Hakanpaa saw a top-four role for much of the campaign, but he's been on the third pairing since the Stars traded for Chris Tanev. The 31-year-old Hakanpaa has two assists over his last eight contests and is up to 12 points, 55 shots on net, 193 hits, 122 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating through 63 outings overall. His physicality is strong, but it doesn't come with enough offense to help fantasy managers in standard formats.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Gets first helper since return
Hakanpaa logged an assist, seven hits and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Jets. Hakanpaa's shot was tipped in by Joe Pavelski late in the first period. The helper was Hakanpaa's first point in two games back from a five-game absence with an upper-body injury. The 31-year-old defenseman shouldn't be expected to pile up points while seeing bottom-four usage. He's at 11 points, 168 hits, 113 blocked shots, 48 shots on net, 33 PIM and a plus-9 rating through 57 contests. Hakanpaa may lose ice time once Chris Tanev is able to make his Stars debut.... Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Set to return
Hakanpaa (upper body) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday versus the Avalanche, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports. Derrick Pouliot was reassigned to AHL Texas earlier Tuesday, clearing out a spot in the lineup for Hakanpaa. Look for Hakanpaa to play on the second pairing as a physical and defensive presence. He had two assists over his first six games in February prior to the injury.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Not ready to return Monday
Hakanpaa (upper body) will not be in the lineup versus the Islanders on Monday, Brian Rea of Bally Sports Southwest reports. With Dallas heading into a back-to-back, Hakanpaa seems unlikely to be in action versus the Avs on Tuesday either, though he hasn't been officially ruled out. Prior to his four-game absence, the 31-year-old defenseman was goalless in 14 straight while adding two assists, 15 shots on net, 48 hits and 39 blocked shots in that span. Derrick Pouliot should continue to play with Hakanpaa and Nils Lundkvist (concussion) both still unavailable.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Pair of helpers in win
Hakanpaa grabbed two assists in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Hurricanes. Both of Hakanpaa's helpers came in the final period, setting up Jason Robertson for the eventual game-winning goal before earning a second assist on Matt Duchene's empty-netter. It's just the second multi-point game of the season for Hakanpaa, who had just one point in 17 games coming into Tuesday's matchup. The 31-year-old blueliner now has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) with 139 hits and 108 blocked shots through 53 games this season.... See More ... See Less
